Ayui Foundation

Legally established in 2007, we manage a Boys and Girls Home for 30 Akha hilltribe minority students aged 9 to 18, of any religion, from poor and disadvantaged backgrounds. Most of the children come from broken homes and a few have fathers who are in jail or drug addicts. We provide a safe and supportive home environment for the children while they attend school, and promote pride in their Akha culture. The Akha come from mountain villages in Northern Thailand and have their own language and culture. They face problems such as lack of land rights, citizenship, AIDS, drugs, trafficking and exploitation.  Illiteracy and poverty result in lack of opportunities and choices for the young people
