Please help us get Ella home.

My Story

**UPDATE**
Firstly, we'd like to thank everyone SO much for donating! We are so overwhelmed and truly grateful for the generous donations from the HK and SKSF Community!

Ella received her rabies vaccination 3 weeks ago and will do her rabies blood test next week. We are hoping for a negative result so that we can get the ball rolling and pay a 50% deposit on the given quote.
Ella is still her playful self and is becoming more gentle around me and her future baby sister :)  Taking her back to Sydney is looking more and more hopeful and we can't wait to introduce her to our little cavoodle, Leo!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In July 2019, my husband and I decided to foster a dog after arriving to Hong Kong.  We visited SKSF and after walking around the shelter, we came across the most beautiful yet extremely terrified dog - Ella. We decided then and there we wanted to give her an opportunity to trust humans.

We visited Ella 3 times before deciding to foster her and all 3 times she hid behind a wall or her companion dog.  Too terrified to let us touch her, walk her or go anywhere near her, we knew we had to take her.  When she came into our house, she hid under our dining table for 2 months!  We bought her a bed and many toys, but she would not go near them.  She didn't even pee or poop for 4 days, even though she was walked 3 times a day.  On the 4th day, we decided to give her some time alone and that's when she released herself, and yes, our house was covered in 3 days' worth of pee and poop!

Slowly but surely, Ella started to trust us day by day.  By the 6th month, she allowed us to fully hug her.  By the 9th month, she started to jump on our bed.  Now, she cries when we leave the house and jumps and howls with joy when we return home.

We have tried to get her adopted but families have rejected her saying that she is too shy as she still finds it hard to find trust in strangers.

Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, we have decided to go back home to Australia.  Having to resign from both our jobs and relocate, the financial stress has been a burden and the biggest expense yet is taking Ella with us.  As great at SKSF is, we feel that if we leave her there, she will feel abandoned and have an even greater distrust towards humans.  Therefore, we have decided to try and take her home, but we need help.  The lowest quote we have received is a little above $65,000HKD - an amount that we just cannot afford right now.

Please help us get Ella to Australia.  Any amount would be greatly appreciated and I can promise that Ella will have a happy life with us and our cavoodle back at home!
