About Appeal

JOSHUA KOH IS ON A MISSION .

Joshua is making a bid for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He has mapped out a path of training and competitions to get there over the next 4 months, and he is currently seeking funding to do this

ACHIEVEMENTS
As the country’s undefeated male Epee Champion for the last 13 years, he wants to test his mettle at the Olympics, every elite athlete’s ultimate goal. A fencer for more than half his lifetime, Joshua took up the sport at 13, and has dominated national rankings from the time he was 16.
He is the country’s most successful Epee fencer in the last three decades and has consistently delivered medals for Malaysia at international level.
He won Malaysia’s first-ever fencing gold at the Commonwealth Junior Championships in 2009, before hitting Gold at the 2011 SEA Games, the country’s first in 22 years. He remains the only Malaysian fencer to have won an individual gold medal at the SEA Games in the last three decades. He took Silver in Manila at the 30 th SEA Games recently. And he provided the country’s sole fencing medal at the 2017 SEA Games in KL.

STORY
Joshua is the youngest of five siblings in the Koh family. He began fencing in 2003, at the age of 13, along with his 3rd brother, Boaz. He dominated national rankings for Epee by the age of 16, and is still No 1 today, 13 years later.
Where most athletes would have a full complement of coaches and trainers behind them to get to where he is, Joshua has done a lot on his own. An all too brief six-week training stint in Italy just before the recent SEA Games yielded discernibly improved form, and the Silver Medal, in Manila. If given the chance to focus over the next 6 months, Joshua believes he can achieve his goal. Time away from family, the suspension of life and career - are sacrifices Joshua takes in his stride. Coaches who have known him half his lifetime rank him highly for his focus and dedication to fencing. This dedication extends to his own contribution to the sport - Joshua coaches aspiring fencers when not
honing his own skills. He is a role model, and inspiration; for his  students, and all Malaysian athletes.

When life gets hard, take a break and rest upon His Grace. He is for you, don't be discouraged but keep going and surrender to Him, take heart, for the battle belongs to the Lord and He has overcome the world! Or perhaps go ahead and take this little amount to treat yourself with something good and then continue to fighting! Take care! God is with u wherever u go!
