Greetings Culture !!! We are Gedhang Godhog Tulungagung Art Studio which is engaged in the arts. One of our priorities is the art of kentrung.
For those who are not familiar with this art, the ease of kentrung art is the art of telling (storytelling) laden with moral messages delivered by the mastermind as a narrator and several climbers who help him. The story that is delivered by dalang kentrung is generally a story that breathes Islam (the story of the saints, the companions of the prophet, other Islamic symbols), the story of the chronicle, conquer, and sometimes the banner.
Kentrung is also known for the intoned dialogue (parikan) accompanied by the distinctive musical instruments of kentrung namely flying (templing), jedor and in some areas using kendhang.
In Indonesia kentrung was once a popular oral art, but now it can only be found in a few areas, one of which is Tulungagung. We want to convince the public that the kentrung still exists, the kentrung must exist, and the kentrung is not yet time to go extinct.
But these efforts are not as easy as turning the palm of the hand, because we seem to struggle alone. Even though we dream a lot! including:
1. held a kentrung performance to spread the kentrung virus
2. holding workshops for art teachers and students in order to keep them from extinction
3. appreciation kentrung Alm. Mbah Gimah by making a book in the form of his struggle to maintain the Noble Values in kentrung
4. buy a typical musical instrument kentrung that we do not have
We all mean that the art of kentrung will be sustainable. Our hope is that this positive virus will spread and spread from our city to other cities. For the sake of the preservation of the valuable kentrung art, and other traditional arts which are also still considered necessary and can shape the nation's personality
