We are a group of passionate children and teens from
PowerKids and Footprints Sunday of Christ Lutheran Church in Setapak, Kuala
Lumpur.
We are raising funds to help support 3 families in the PPR Air
Panas community who are living below the poverty line. Sister Christine and
Sister Jean came across these families while distributing tracts for PowerFun.
The families are:-
1)
Mary and her 5 children aged 10 to 20 who have
to stay with an abusive and alcoholic father. Mary only receives RM500 per
month from various welfare bodies as the husband will spend it all on alcohol.
2)
Rachel and her son, Kevin who is a drug addict. We are encouraging Kevin to enrol himself in a drug rehabilitation centre. Rachel receives a RM300 monthly allowance
from her daughter.
3)
Shireen and 5 grandchildren from two sons. Both
the sons only provide her with a total monthly allowance of RM550. The rent for
her flat is also in arrears.
Our target is to raise a total of RM5,000. Any excess funds collected will be channelled to the church’s
Social Concern Fund.
