Fundraising for:
Yayasan Chow Kit, "Every Child Matters"

We are raising funds again for Yayasan Chow Kit. Tini, our favourite warrior, works tirelessly to protect all children. And we want to be able to support that. We hope that this will be our new family tradition. We will be supporting YCK's Baby Health Fund this year. YCK offers support to families who need help to take care of their infants as well. Many of YCK's clients are from the marginalized and low-income community in Kuala Lumpur hence they might not have access to the best pre-natal care during pregnancy. More often than not, they only realized that their infant needs immediate medical care after they are born. When such cases are referred to us, YCK's only option is to reach out to generous donor for additional support as it is challenging for them to gather such huge amount of money in a short period of time. The stress and desperation to the parents who do not have the means to pay for their babies'care are unimaginable. Some are refused treatment when funds are unavailable. Some take their babies out of the hospital prematurely for fear that they cannot pay the fees. YCK's motto is "Every Child Matter", and we will fight to help every case that is brought to their attention. Your support will give them the opportunity to grow up and thrive. Naya is also taking part in #MYGiving. We will raise funds and raise awareness for YCK. #EveryChildMatters!

Enjoys ‘showing by example’ for less trash among her colleagues at workplace. A volunteer of Zero Waste Malaysia, with its intention to  spread awareness on sustainable living. In my dictionary, zero-waste is gorgeously fun and brings creativity to the person.

Fundraising for:
Alliance of Chin Refugees (ACR)

Hi, my name is James Bawi Thang Bik. I am a Chin refugee who fled from Myanmar to Malaysia in 2010 and I have been the coordinator for Alliance of Chin Refugees, an Christian refugee organisation that supports and empowers over 19,000 Chin refugees in Malaysia, for almost two years. In 2018, I led a protest against the cessation policy regarding Chin refugees issued by UNHCR which eventually led to a review of the policy on 14 March 2019. I have also written three books, i.e. Living without Rights, Unrecognised People and Rising Up: The Fight for Chin Refugees (ISBN), and used social media to spread awareness on Chin refugees. As you may be aware, the government of Malaysia doesn't grant the right of education to the refugee children. ACR Malaysia steps in to provide an informal and community-based education to help bridge the gap but with a growing number of Chin refugee students (now at 200), we are unable to accept more. There are also a lot challenges when it comes to healthcare for children:1. Cost - Even with the 50% discount, refugees find it difficult to pay for healthcare when it comes to childbirth and emergencies (accidents, serious illness, etc). Some refugees resort to home births which increases the risk to both mother and child. Babies born outside the hospital often are not vaccinated. While home births has declined a lot, it is still a concern. 2. Accessibility - Many refugee families live near plantation areas where their labour is needed. Transport in these areas are less reliable and more expensive. There is also the fear of arrest while traveling (even with UNHCR cards).3. Language - Language barriers makes communicating with doctors a challenge. This can lead to crucial information being lost during consultation.4. Mental Health - Refugees are in high-stress situations and often arrive with some form of trauma. There is also low awareness of mental health among refugee communities. This can lead to domestic violence or self harm. While there has been considerable effort by UNHCR and other NGOs in this area, it is still a concern. To support these refugees, ACR organises mobile clinic at plantation areas where refugees live. In some situations, ACR also bears the medical costs for the refugees. With your kind contribution, ACR hopes to1. Expand our classroom and empower more Chin refugee children with education. 2. Plan for more frequent mobile clinics at the plantation areas.3. Provide vaccination for refugee children. 4. Set aside funds for emergency cases. If you believe that everyone has the right to a home, education and healthcare, please support my fundraiser. Donate and share with your friends! Thank you from the bottom of my heart,James Bawi Thang Bik

ZERO WASTE MALAYSIA

During our Environment Week in Eaton, we did many fundraising activities to support the cause of Project 0. We had a Food Waste Management company called MAEKO to come to our school to teach the students the importance of properly disposing and re-using our leftover food. Moreover, they showed us videos of how easy it was to convert our food waste to compost and distributed small packets of compost to teachers and students to use at home. In addition to that, we also held a bake sale that lasted three days due to time shortage as the school term was coming to an end. Nevertheless, the bake sale was a success as many, many students were very interested in buying the delicious cookies and cakes we had on sale. We also did a recycling/reuse service, in which we collected people's old clothes that they did not wear anymore and turned them into cloth bags. This allowed more people to reuse their old clothes and use less plastic bags when they buy groceries in supermarkets. Another thing we did was asking students to bring in old jars that they didn't have a use for and fill it up with wax and transform it into a colourful candle of your choice. This was also overwhelmingly popular and due to all of these events, we were able to raise rm1000 in total. However, our initial (perhaps quite ambitious) target was rm2500 in which we hope to reach by creating this page. We hope you support us!

Yayasan Chow Kit, "Every Child Matters"

"It’s been a terrible year for Yayasan Chow Kit, financially. Even though we are blessed with loyal supporters and friends who rally to our side when we wanted to support a sick child or family, we find it difficult to keep ourselves afloat for operations and our social workers programme or to fix the roof, support our safehouse and staff in PJ or pay to renovate our house in Langkawi or kickstart our programmes there. We only have 7 more months of funding to keep ourselves afloat while we lobby and campaign for bigger grants to be approved. This is a first for us! It’s never been so dire. So we’re trying to do smaller funding initiatives to muddle through while we restrategize, reframe our programmes and help more children than ever before. From now till the 31st of December, I will be sharing the kinds of work we do and our programmes. How much we need per pillar and programme. How many children and families it affects and what it means to us if you we could hold on to your generosity and love for just a little bit longer. While we don’t want handouts, it would be great if all of our YCK friends would consider investing in us a little bit more than usual. Times are hard. Corporates are looking for different kinds of initiatives. Love the idea of social entrepreneurship and impact investments and Return of Investments. We want to do it too. But all of this takes time. In the meantime, some of us still have to deal with sick kids, hungry kids, kids who need alternative education, rent, water damage and putting a roof and providing shelter for vulnerable children. If you have ideas or thoughts to help us keep afloat till the big ideas come or extra change to spare, please donate to our general fund and our social workers programme. Thanks so much!" - Posted on 18 Nov 2019Here's some of the dares my team has thought up for me in this Christmas Fundraising Challenge! 1. Fill her mouth with a slice of cake and say a tongue twister- RM30002. Story telling in an animated funny way to the kids-RM 60004. Dress up as Santa and visit the kids- RM90003. Learn a dance choreography from the kids wearing a santa suit- RM15,000

ZERO WASTE MALAYSIA

For my coming 27th birthday🎁, I would like to donate my birthday months to a project that I have been working on for more than 3 years with a group of lovely people, trying to raise RM5,000 💰 to directly support Zero Waste Malaysia.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Zero Waste Malaysia (ZWM) is a non-profit organisation that is supported by a group of passionate people like YOU and ME striving to increase the awareness of sustainable living as well as to promote zero waste lifestyle by leading as an example. Being a resource platform, we also strive to provide related resources for our community to access to live zero waste. We organised the Malaysia’s First Zero Waste Festival which almost generated NO TRASH with around a thousand of participants, and as well as the Zero Waste Second Festival that’s focusing on sustainable advocacy with the support from Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia Zero Waste Movement group. We published the Zero Waste Event Handbook (3 languages: BM, CN and EN) to encourage market and event organisers to implement a low waste event; during the event, pre-event planning as well as post-event stage. At the moment, we are working on to publish the Zero Waste Office Handbook. The most important to note is that they are all free to download on our website (www.zerowastemalaysia.org) because we believe that everyone has the privilege to access #sustainableliving Of course we are super thankful to our lovely 30,000+ community sharing the resources on our social media platform. And now, we have added 611 pins on our Zero Waste Malaysia Map. It’s a directory for local community to access to zero waste resources. The fund raised will be used to support the operations and programmes in year 2020 on several programmes including the enhancement of the Zero Waste Malaysia Map, Speakers Team Outreach Programme, Educational Lesson Plans, Zero Waste Pledge Programme, And hopefully, we will have educational trips such as landfill trips and recycling facilities trips soon.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------For every RM100 raised through here, I pledge to ask a friend of mine to join me for a half day of(1) Tree planting activities or(2) Plogging (Trash Pick Up) at public streetThe rule of this pledge is to have different individual for respective activity that have been raised and you shall join me if you are interested! :)  To make this project outcome more accountable, I will post the activity with #sueyee1222 on my Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/sueyeekhor/Completion date: By next year 2020 😉

Growing up my primary school teacher took us to a blind orphanage which also functioned as a school. Every year for the six years I lived in Egypt we went to share our toys, baked cookies and our time to sing Christmas carols together. Children’s health and education are dear to my heart and still recall with how little you can make others less fortunate smile and comfort. These children from back then have taught me a lot and I try to give back. Tomorrow I run for Children here in Cambodia, Angkor Wat. Hi! We are Shu Huey and Yik Wei (Our instagram handle is zerowaste.fit) and we've been on our zero waste journey for a year now. When we first started, we were slowly giving up single-used plastics and began composting which reduced our trash to 1-2 times a week. Gradually it became once every couple of weeks and today we haven't thrown out the trash in more than 5 months! It's been a snowball effect! We started an instagram account to share our knowledge about zero waste and also our other passion, fitness and health. We hope to inspire others to empower themselves through these 3 things. If you like our story and also our content, please help us to support Project 0 by raising RM300 which is a small amount for our future, our planet and our next generation. In return, for every RM100 raised, we pledge to go vegetarian for 7 days and produce more and better content on fitness and health.Check out our page here: https://www.instagram.com/zerowaste.fit/
