Yellow House

Yellow House, a local grassroots NGO, has been working with marginalised, vulnerable communities since 2011. In order to have maximum impact, Yellow House thoroughly assesses the needs of these communities to match them with existing opportunities. Over the years, Yellow House has touched the lives of thousands of beneficiaries and in the process have developed a deep understanding of the needs of these communities who often rely on daily/weekly wages to make ends meet. With the pandemic outbreak happening around the world, Project S.O.U.P aims to ensure that there are food on the table for more than 200 underprivileged families, including the elderly and refugees. We will start delivering care packages to families in Ampang, and gradually expand our support to those in need in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Our aim is to ensure that everyone has food on their table - one family at a time.Funds raised will be used to send monthly care packages to more than 200 families. Care packages include basic necessities and food.[Update @ 15 April 2020]Thank you for your generous support to date!As the MCO continues to be extended, more and more families are reaching out to us for help. In response, we are extending our fund-raising campaign and increasing our target to reach up to 700 families. Based on their needs and family composition, we are adding infant milk, diapers and feminine hygiene products to the food care packages. Any contribution, big or small, will help these households get through this trying time.Check out our efforts at:Web: https://yellowhousekl.com/ngoFB: https://www.facebook.com/yellowhouseklIF: https://www.instagram.com/yellowhouseklFor corporate sponsorship, please contact Shyam at 018-367 4852.

Abdi's mother is currently looking after him and his sister at home.Currently, he is only depending on monthly medication and his condition restricts him from breathing normally. BENEFICIARIES OF THIS FUNDRAISER:1. Teaching The Next Generation of Planet Protectors: Environmental Education for 100 ChildrenThe next generation - our children and our grandchildren - are the future, and we want to help equip them for the future that they are about to face. We believe that love and appreciation for the environment and for all beings that live on this planet start from childhood. This is the reason why it is very important to us to work with the academe to promote environmental consciousness and encourage environmental action among the youth. Experiencing first-hand the wonder of nature and knowing more about our interconnectedness shape habits, mindsets, lifestyles, and behavior in children, and our Environmental Education team provides “turo” sessions around the country in order to share this with more students every day. With your generous support, 100 students will learn from our biodiversity and conservation module where they will be taught about the interrelationships of various components in the environment, as well as different wildlife species and their habitats. At a young age, they will be trained to integrate the environment in the different aspects of their lives, which will help and encourage them to take the initiative to protect our environment, and in doing so, to protect their fellow Filipinos and their country. As a supporter, YOU can get the chance to join the turo sessions and to help teach the next generation of planet protectors! By donating to this cause, you can get the chance to join our Environmental Education team and be selected to serve as an environmental teacher for a day! 2. Help Feed our 209 Partner Dumagats and their Families in Ipo WatershedThe Ipo Watershed is a vital link in the Angat-Umiray-Ipo watersheds system which supplies around 96% of the water needs of Metro Manila. The protection of this area is crucial in ensuring water security for us and for future generations of Filipinos – and for this we have the partner Dumagats of the watershed to thank. The global COVID-19 pandemic has taken the world by storm, and its effects have been felt by the entire Philippines. Although there are no reported cases of the disease in the community, the pandemic - and the lockdowns that have followed in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 - has affected the livelihoods of the partner Dumagats of the Ipo Watershed, with most of them serving as the environmental frontliner of the area. Our partner Dumagats are in-charge of patrolling the 6,600 hectares of forest land that surrounds the area. Despite the lockdowns, the partner Dumagats continue to patrol in order to protect our forests.  Now more than ever, the partner Dumagats of the Ipo Watershed need our help. Your generosity will go a long way in supporting our environmental frontliners in Bulacan during these challenging times. Your contribution will help us provide food assistance to 209 families and give them new, proper equipment that they would need to continue protecting the forest. Together, let’s feed our partner Dumagats and their families, people who continue to #ChangeTheEnding every day for us and for the planet, with the work that they do to safeguard our water source.3. Project Silong: For the victims of Super Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses who were left with no homes to return to, no boats for livelihood. They need our help!  WWF-Philippines has been working in Lagonoy Gulf, which covers the Provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes, since 2011, and has a deep and strong relationship with its fishing communities. These communities have been at the forefront of many of our efforts on sustainable fishing practices, from initiatives to prevent post-harvest losses, to social enterprise development, to important innovations in seafood traceability. The artisanal fishers of Lagonoy Gulf belong to a client group of small-scale tuna fishers that has entered full MSC assessment. This makes them the first group of small-scale fishers in the country to undergo the process. The fishing communities of Lagonoy Gulf have been true partners in our work for sustainable fisheries, and are considered both as models of responsible fishing practices - and among the most vulnerable to violent storms and climate change. Small-scale fisherfolk are unfortunately disproportionately affected by such events. Still reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic and battered by one heavy storm after another, it is difficult for them not to feel hopeless over their situation. With the recent Supertyphoon Rolly (international name: Goni) and Typhoon Ulysses (international name: Vamco) hundreds of families were left without roofs above their heads, boats were completely destroyed and unable to continue with their livelihoods. WWF local staff located in the Lagonoy Gulf area were also affected by the supertyphoon, though they have been able to act swiftly to conduct in-person rapid assessments in affected fishing communities, consulting and coordinating with the communities about the kind of immediate and mid-term support that they would need. With your support, you can help us purchase and distribute necessary materials and supplies to our affected communities, to help them rebuild as they work themselves back up on their own two feet.Together, let us #ChangeTheEnding for our fellow Filipinos and #BuildBackBetter communities that are more sustainable and climate-resilient. I think). So 2 months vegetarian and 2 months no booze. That from a guy, who really, really loves his craft beers and good wines! But besides for sure doing good to myself, why not trying to support the environment and take some with me on this abstinence challenge? 2 good causes in 2 months: as beneficiary I chose WWF for their efforts for the environment, the planet AND animals. So let's see, if I can convince friends, family and others to support myself and/or to join in as well.

School on the Boat

Meet Nicholas Prince, 35 years of age, born and raised in Leicestershire, England, currently living in Hanoi, Vietnam.Nicholas has recently been a volunteer for School On The Boat, teaching fitness games and outdoor activities to the kids of the program. His biggest advice for the children he teaches is: ‘Try every sport once, they all benefit each other!’.This is probably why he has tried them all, all over the world: volleyball in an orphanage in Nepal, Cricket with the taxi drivers on the streets of Delhi, Clay court Tennis in Pokhara, under the Annapurna mountain range, Badminton in the back yards of Goa, Boule in the colorful gardens of Paris, tennis on the island of Elba, Italy. Runclubs in Bristol, Triathlon in England and Wales, Tag rugby in north London, 5 a side football in Hanoi, canoe racing in Halong Bay.But most of all, he runs:to him, running means exploring the local area, exploring and seeing amazing and wonderful thing such as the rivers of Saigon, the lantern lite streets of Hoi An, Kep national park in Cambodia, the rivers of Kampot, to the Ancient ruins of Angkor Wat, the dusty streets of Siem Reap, the bridges of Don Det, the beaches of Koh Rong Samloem up 100’s of steps to the golden buddhas in Cambodia, and waterfall chasing in Laos on the Bolaven Plateau. His family is his inspiration and his hero’s: five brothers and two amazing sisters. They share and learn together: everybody needs heroes, they are his. Especially his identical twin brother Edward, “he’s like no other.. and at the same time identical to me. He’s shown me that we are capable of unimaginable feats of endurance, time and time again.. and that putting your hand in the fire can reveal your true potential, especially when you're down to skin and bone 20+ hours into an endurance challenge.

Malaysian Animal Welfare Association

There are many shelters trying their best to protect animals from harm, to protect their voice and right to live freely in the world. And now, one of them needs OUR help. MAWA's old home is on the brink of destruction, and they're trying their BEST TO BUILD A NEW, BETTER, SAFER HOME for the dogs and puppies in their care. They urgently need to re-locate, and time is running out. MAWA pleads with you to spare any amount possible to help the dogs have a new home. Without funds, the home cannot exist. And if the home cannot exist, the dogs will be back on the streets to fend for themselves.WHY SHOULD I HELP? Here is why. Animals are creatures of this Earth, just like you and me. What they want is simple; to survive, to love and be loved, to live without fear. Only problem is, they can't communicate as well as us, and for some reason, people seem to think it's okay to beat, kick, burn, torture, and kill them with no mercy.Sounds like hell, doesn't it? For many dogs on the streets, it really is.Now, MAWA need RM 35,000 (MYR) to build a proper dog shelter with enough food, water, electricity, large cages, drainage, amenities, and utilities. With a large, beautiful, complete home like this, we can save thousands of dogs from the street. So many lives that get to thrive. All we need is your kind support and any amount that you can spare. Help us help them <3 “Animals have come to mean so much in our lives. We live in a fragmented and disconnected culture. Politics are ugly, religion is struggling, technology is stressful, and the economy is unfortunate. What’s one thing that we have in our lives that we can depend on? A dog or a cat loving us unconditionally, every day, very faithfully.” – Jon Katz

Dignity and Services (D&S)

When I came to Malaysia back in 2000 I met the inspirational paediatrician Dr Sam Abrahams. Dr Sam co-founded Dignity and Services (D&S) back in 1991 to work and advocate for and with adults with learning difficulties. I was and remain inspired by its' mission to create a society where persons with learning disabilities enjoy dignity and respect, equal rights and opportunities to lead an independent and meaningful life within the community. The  founders have passed on but the organisation continues and I really enjoy volunteering my time to help support. D&S Options teaches life skills and provides essential fellowship, the bakery Bake with Dignity teaches too and provides dignity and respect though employment and a salary. And by its' advocacy, with government bodies, and in the community not least through the wonderful EVERYONE CAN RUN EVCR now in its 5th year, DNS raises awareness about learning difficulties in this fully inclusive event. Together these make real difference in the lives of many individuals families and the wider community. This year EVCR has gone virtual. But instead of limiting us, this has expanded the event from one day to everyday and from one venue to everywhere. Using virtual technologies such and Strava we are able to connect people.
