Yayasan Chow Kit, "Every Child Matters"

We are raising funds again for Yayasan Chow Kit. Tini, our favourite warrior, works tirelessly to protect all children. And we want to be able to support that. We hope that this will be our new family tradition. We will be supporting YCK's Baby Health Fund this year. YCK offers support to families who need help to take care of their infants as well. Many of YCK's clients are from the marginalized and low-income community in Kuala Lumpur hence they might not have access to the best pre-natal care during pregnancy. More often than not, they only realized that their infant needs immediate medical care after they are born. When such cases are referred to us, YCK's only option is to reach out to generous donor for additional support as it is challenging for them to gather such huge amount of money in a short period of time. The stress and desperation to the parents who do not have the means to pay for their babies'care are unimaginable. Some are refused treatment when funds are unavailable. Some take their babies out of the hospital prematurely for fear that they cannot pay the fees. YCK's motto is "Every Child Matter", and we will fight to help every case that is brought to their attention. Your support will give them the opportunity to grow up and thrive. Naya is also taking part in #MYGiving. We will raise funds and raise awareness for YCK. #EveryChildMatters!

Chris Seow

Hi guys, my name is Chris. It's been a year and 2 months since my son delivered by my wife and then she had an undiagnosed Brain Lesion. It's been bothering my wife for more than a year 2 months that she felt symptomatic everyday. We have been through big hospitals in Malaysia like Thomson Medical Centre, Sunway Medical Centre, UM Specialist Centre but non of the doctors can give her any diagnosis nor any medication to reduce her symptoms. As a husband, is helpless to see the wife suffering the symptoms. As a father, is sad to see the children's mother cannot play with them. Hope with this fundraising, any of you may help us to go for oversea to seek for 2nd opinion and treatment as our insurance provider does not provide such service. Thank you very much.

Relate Malaysia

In March 2020, together with 99 other HSBC colleagues from around the world, we will be trekking 100km over 5 days through the Andean Mountains. As with most charity challenge, this trek will be physically and mentally demanding, as we trekked the mountains of Ecuador, culminating in a climb to more than 15,000 feet above sea level to Mt Cotopaxi, one of the world’s most active volcanoes. What makes this challenge interesting is that we can select a mental health charities of our choice to support and raise fund. Collectively, we are aiming to raise $350,000 for mental health charities around the world. Mental health is so important because it impacts all of us - whether personally and directly, or through our friends and family. Through this Andean Challenge I hope to raise awareness of the work Relate (https://relate.com.my/)  is progressing in Malaysia and raise funds to support their programme deliverables to develop and roll out a culturally appropriate guided online self-help intervention programme for low to moderate depression/anxiety (modelled on IAPT programme in UK). This will double the capacity of a mental health professional and is a cost effective means of supporting more people in the community#YouDoNotHavetoSufferAlone  #BreaktheStigma

Mental health is so important because it impacts all of us - whether personally and directly, or through our friends and family. through the Andean Challenge I hope to raise awareness of the work Relate  is progressing and raise funds to support two programme deliverables: 1. Tailoring the Relate platform and depression screening tools to the Bahasa Melayu (‘Malay Language’) speaking community. There are limited mental health resources provided in Bahasa Melayu, the national language of Malaysia, which is spoken by over 70% of the population. 2. Develop and roll out a culturally appropriate guided online self-help intervention programme for low to moderate depression/anxiety (modelled on IAPT programme in UK). This will double the capacity of a mental health professional and is a cost effective means of supporting more people in the community.  All support for the organisation, whether financial or word of mouth is valued and appreciated. To give you an indication of how far your financial support can go we have provided a breakdown below: RM 30 – will help Relate give important mental health information booklets to 20 people. RM 120 will help Relate give a comprehensive mental health assessment to ensure someone receives the right diagnosis and treatment. RM 300 will help Relate to support someone with a mild mental health condition through our low intensity treatment program. RM 2,500 will help Relate to support 10 people with depression through our group therapy program. RM 20,000 will help Relate develop a depression awareness and screening program in Bahasa Melayu. RM 100,000 will help Relate develop a guided online self-help intervention programme.

Yayasan Chow Kit, "Every Child Matters"

I have been teaching HipHop classes for the youth at KL Krash Pad for 3 years now. I call them the 'kool kids' because they are always keen to learn, full of energy and have good musicality in dancing, loves singing and even rapping! During our time together, the group has grown so much, from being shy during the first few sessions, to being able to communicate when we have international dancers and local musicians sharing workshops, expressing themselves well and performing confidently in public showcases. They turn up for class no matter rain or shine, always ready to share good vibes, and they have taught me the values of dedication, support and love.  Yayasan Chow Kit does tremendous work in providing a safe haven for at-risk children and youth to grow in a holistic and supportive environment, equipping them with social skills and academic achievements, and keeping them out of dangers on the streets. The function of YCK is very important in helping stateless youths find their voice and achieve greater potential in their lives, providing them with opportunities just as any child would deserve. Indeed, every child matters, and every little bit counts. Your support will help YCK on their continuous effort in protecting and championing child rights.

Susan Wong

I invested my savings with a Company three years ago, the contract is closed now but the Company refuses to return my capital. Moreover, the Company defaulted in payouts of a year's worth. I hesitated crowdfunding because my situation might seem least compelling, considering some of the obvious cases of struggle and hardships on this platform. However, I am being lied to by the Company, i.e., one that audaciously threatens not to pay anyone who takes legal action, calling such a person as undeserving of getting his/her money back, and transparent communication means little. I have no other option than to seek legal assistance. Please support me, I know it may seem imprudent to some to have made such a move in life, i.e., investments come with risk but this is where I am at now. I am not able to attach documents or statements which are confidential but I could show you if you reach out to me. I feel caught between the rock and a hard place in the sense that if I do not engage a law firm, I will not see my money again. If I do, there is the matter of affordability. End of the day, it is also about others who have put in their life savings.Thank you for stopping by. I am grateful for every bit of help. God bless your caring heart towards a stranger.

Angkor Hospital for Children

I started running about 5 years ago when my friend who was about the same size and built as me took on the challenge to run the full marathon. It was inspirational to me back then and I was thinking to myself, if she can do it, so can I! Along the way, I have met with many people who have discouraged me and told me that it was so difficult to complete the marathon, especially at the point of 30km mark, that would be the time where most would hit the wall and yet still have another 12km to cross. I wanted to discover for myself exactly how difficult is difficult. I didn't want to live on other people's experiences, I wanted to know how it feels like to go through it myself. Through it I have also learnt that it is very important to know how to encourage others. It doesn't matter how fast or how slow we take to cross the finishing line, what is important, is that we have crossed it. All of us have different challenges in life, it may be completing a run, it may be looking after a child, or it may be managing a difficult project. Nobody will really remember the pains that we have while going through the ordeal, at the end of the day, it is how we celebrate the completion of the task and what you are being remembered for. Today, you have a chance to make a difference to someone's life. The Angkor Wat Half Marathon aims to raise money to provide medical care for children in Cambodia (the Angkor Hospital for Children, AHC). For any small amount that you contribute, you will be able to improve the healthcare for Cambodia's children. The amount no matter how big or small touches the hearts of those who are on the receiving end, and any amount goes a long way to bring a smile onto their face.  Will you make the difference to their lives today?
