I'm making a difference by raising money for a cause close to my heart. For the month of October I am going to stay alcohol free, walk 10000 steps per day for the month, with a final aim of climbing a Munro before November. Those who know me know how I like a wee wine or gin at night and unless I go out on my horse struggle to even walk 5000 steps a day! However over the month it totals around 150 miles!! This is a big thing for me and I am grateful for every penny you can donate. Even £1 will make a massive difference to WONDERWorks and the ladies they help. Back in 2015 my brother was caught up in the Nepal earthquake, with no contact for days we were fearing the worst. Fortunately for Ross he was befriended by ladies from a local charity named WONDERWorks, and got home safely. This wasn't the case for many others. Some still living in tents, still unable to afford to rebuild their homes. WONDERWorks is a charity who do amazing things. Supporting and educating women and children to live a life free from stigma an violence. All funds raised will go direct to WONDERWorks to enable them to support these women and children, keeping them in education, supporting them through further studies, or setting them up in business and supporting them to be successful. 5000HKD sounds like a lot, but it's only just over £500. I feel this is a realistic target. For more information you can visit www.wonderworksasia.org www.facebook.com/wonderworksasia Please support me by donating. If you are unable to donate why not join me in my 10000 step/day target and come for a walk with me, motivate me! Even better, join my campaign and help raise money for WONDERWorks Much love xx

WONDERWorks is a small charity based in Kathmandhu, who aim to empower vulnerable women and children in Nepal to lead a life free from violence, exploitation and stigma. They do this by providing skills, knowledge, funds and resources to enable them to earn a dignified living for themselves and their families, as part of their community. With funding for their Last Hope Project WONDERWorks is able to help women, children and families in Nepal who find themselves in dire straits to turn their lives around. You can’t put a price on dignity and independence and yet it takes relatively little money to get someone back on their feet and in a position to manage on their own.Examples of how WONDERWorks Last Hope project has helped women and children turn their lives around include:Bhinda, an earthquake victim, lost her husband and baby girl when their apartment collapsed. She also lost all the family’s belongings and entire stock for her clothing business. Bhinda had to move in with her mother and, without money for school fees, had to take her son out of school.  Insufficient funds to feed the bigger family meant her younger sister also had to leave school. WONDERWorks provide Bhinda with £155 worth of 'monsoon shoes' which she then sold before reinvesting and building up her business again. This relatively small amount of money has allowed Bhinda to support her family and the children to continue their education.Nita, who is partially deaf, was desperately unhappy after finding herself trapped and exploited in Kathmandu where she had hoped to make a better life for herself.  She missed village life, where she had tended someone else’s goats in exchange for a small hut to live in, but couldn’t afford the bus fare to return. For £150 WONDERWorks provided Nita with her fare home and bought her two breeding goats, two kids and a hen with several chicks so that she could build up her stock.  She is now able to support herself and is happy to be back in the countryside.Every £150 that we raise (sometimes considerably less and sometimes just a little more) will help one more woman, child or family to move forward in life. Further information about WONDERWorks can be found on their website www.wonderworksasia.org or on their Facebook pagewonderworksasia

My son Ross was caught up in the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015. During the aftermath Ross was befriended by a small charity named WONDERWorks. The work they do is amazing and as a family we are proud to support them.Their latest project is named Project Dignity.Across Nepal rural schoolgirls are often reluctant to attend school during their monthly period as they don't have access to sanitary pads. Missing weeks of schooling each year puts the girls at risk of dropping out, leaving them vulnerable to trafficking and early marriage. WONDERWorks aims to improve the lives of the women and girls in two ways:Firstly by providing free washable sanitary kits so that the girls can participate in school with dignity and confidence and complete their education.Secondly by providing a dignified income for exploited and trafficked women in Kathmandu. WONDERWorks provides training and pays the women a fair wage to make the kits.It costs £8 to make and distribute each sanitary kit. I'm going to Nepal (self funded) in March to assist the WONDERWorks team to distribute the kits. The 2 schools chosen are in an area with a high risk of trafficking.Any amount donated, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference to the lives of these young girls.100% of the funds raised go directly to Project Dignity.Thank you Ingrid X
