Individuals coping with the economic fallout, stress from adapting to the uncertainty of work arrangements, caregiving with tight safety measures and home-schooling students. Being cooped up indoors also raised family tensions and strained relationships. Hi everyone, sunrise and sunset experiences often hold special and unique meaning to each one of us. From now till 10 September 2021, we are collecting 40 sunny perspectives through our daily activities to fundraise for families in need! Through each perspectives, we hope to inspire joy and hope for families in need. This is our very first fundraising effort as part of Care Corner 40th Anniversary, so your support and donations would mean a lot to us :) About the cause Care Corner is celebrating our 40th Anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone Care Corner has launched '40 Days of Care’ – a campaign to raise awareness and funds for five meaningful causes from 2 August to 10 September.  As part of the campaign, we will be fund-raising to support “Transnational low-income families in need of emergency medical funds”    1 in 4 citizen marriages in Singapore are transnational. Non-citizen spouses who are unable to get permanent residency do not qualify for medical subsidies. As a result, when they are suddenly hit with a health emergency or chronic illness, medical bills mount up and become a crippling burden for families who are already struggling financially.    One such case is Sarina (not her real name). She was diagnosed with a low-lying placenta that caused bleeding in the seventh month of her pregnancy. As a result, she had to be hospitalised for over a month, leading to medical bills amounting to several thousand dollars. Given her status as a foreigner (i.e. long-term visit pass holder), her access to financial support was limited. With her son's birth complications, on top of the outstanding medical bills, the family is struggling to cover their basic needs such as rental payments, diapers and milk powder. Join us in supporting families such as Sarina's. Together, we can bring much needed hope and light to families in need as they look forward to sunny days ahead! Some things to note: 1. Care Corner is an IPC so your donations would qualify for tax deductions. 2. Donations will be matched dollar for dollar by Toteboard

: We are a group of colleagues working at Care Corner Family Service Centre (Toa Payoh). Care Corner Singapore is celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone in a meaningful and purposeful way, we are raising funds for five special causes close to our hearts. Join us in ‘40 Days of Care’ from 2 Aug to 10 Sep 2021. Let’s come together to forge new beginnings, give hope and bring care to our beneficiaries in a tangible manner. About the Cause Goal: Rehabilitate seniors’ homes into a safe and sanitary living environment Seniors living alone or with low-income families often struggle with multiple life challenges. They cope with physical and mental health issues, and lack the financial means to care of themselves or to upkeep their homes. Their homes are usually cluttered from hoarding or plagued with pest infestation (e.g. bed bugs, cockroaches and rats). From peeling stained walls, rusty metal gates to mould in hard-to-reach places, they spend their days in unhygienic and hazardous living conditions. These homes are not just less than ideal - they pose real health, fall and fire risks. Everyone deserves a clean, safe home and to lead a dignified life. Meet Nathan*  Nathan (68) was referred to our Senior Services team for financial assistance and home rehabilitation. He lives alone in a one-room rental flat after his wife left him, leaving him in the care of his son whom was later incarcerated for drug-related offences. Nathan had not gone home for many months due to bed bug infestations. Upset and emotional about his family issues, his health deteriorated further. We helped him secure financial assistance for his medical and home bills, and partnered Habitat for Humanity to clear and sanitise his home. Our caseworker continued to keep in touch with him and encouraged him to keep up with medical appointments and community activities. Like Nathan, there are many seniors who live in poor living conditions. We can help provide a safe and sanitary home. One senior at a time, one home at a time. Donations received will be eligible for dollar-for-dollar matching by Singapore government under Community Silver Trust.*Not his real nameSome things to note: 1. Join us in ‘40 Days of Care’ from 2 August to 10 September 2021. Let’s come together to forge new beginnings, give hope and bring care to our beneficiaries in a tangible manner. iCare to support mental health is made up of a group of ladies who are concerned over the spike in mental health issues in Singapore and wants to do our part to provide individuals or caregivers with access to mental health support and counselling. We hope to raise funds by doing cross stitch. Cross stitch can be a form of meditation where repetitive, silent action brings some kind of inner calm. By following patterns, counting stitches, keeping our mind engaged, our brain and body are in sync. Cross stitching distracts us from the day-to-day worries of life and the constant whirring in our minds, helping us stay calm, refocus and refresh. Help us support this cause by clicking ‘Donate Now’. Donations received from 2 August 2021 to 10 September 2021 will be eligible for fund matching by Tote Board, subject to approval. Every dollar counts and your donation can have an impact for someone in need of help. A token of appreciation (a framed cross stitch heart pattern similar to the page image) will be given to the 1st 40 doners who donate $100 and above, if you email us your wish to have it via [email protected]. The token of appreciation will be completed and delivered to you by end September 2021. Team members: Amy, Anita, Chloe, Jamie, Jasmine, Jean, Jerilene, Katherine, Lynn, PetrinaAs of 12 Aug - Thanks to all the generous donations which helped the team hit our original target of $4000 so quickly. Really grateful and thankful to each and everyone who donated. However, our overall target for mental health cause of $20,000 (SimplyGiving: Online Fundraising & Crowdfunding Across Asia) has not been met and we are raising the iCare to support mental health team's target to $5000 to move the needle closer to the overall target for this cause. We hope that the donations will keep coming in to help us meet the overall target for this cause. The more the donations, the more people we can support. To celebrate, we are launching “40 Days of Care” (2 August – 10 September 2021), a fundraising campaign  that epitomises the core spirit of Care Corner – to always remember the vulnerable and marginalised in our midst.   As we celebrate 40 years, we want to rally others alongside us in strengthening the support and services provided to those we have been journeying with. We are a bunch of adventure-loving folks from Raleigh Singapore, a registered society of volunteers dedicated to paying it forward through adventure. We have either gone overseas on expeditions or organised local projects like our flagship Let's Take A Walk, a long-distance endurance walking event.Suffice to say, we're all experiencing cabin fever due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are itching to climb a mountain, swim in a lake, or even dig a trench or plant a tree. So when we heard about Care Corner's 40 Days of Care campaign we thought it would be a perfect way for us to "pay it forward" by swimming, running, hiking, cycling or paddling! We hope our small actions can motivate our friends and family to donate towards the cause. We are aiming to raise $4,000 to help Care Corner provide youths with 12-month travel concession passes. We have set ourselves the challenge of completing 5 sports between 2 August and 10 September. Here's our target mileage! Hello, I’m Michelle and this is my very first fundraiser! I chose to raise funds for this cause in order that through this, we may collectively make a difference in the lives of our Elderly. About the Cause I am fundraising for: Goal: Rehabilitate seniors’ homes into a safe and sanitary living environment When I read about the living conditions and challenges faced by some of the Seniors in our society, it was simply heart breaking. My hope is that by our giving, we will be able to improve the lives of the marginalized Elderly in our society. Some people have asked me, why Care Corner? Well, pictured with me is my Uncle Harry. He has been attending an Activity Centre for Seniors at Care Corner for over a decade now and it is he, who inspires me. You see, Uncle Harry was born a normal baby nearly 80 years ago. Then one day, while still a baby, he developed a very high fever which resulted in brain damage leaving him intellectually disabled. He is unassuming, kind and truly the most loving person I’ve ever known. As he lives out his Golden Years, coupled with his disability, additional support and constant supervision is often required. Fortunately for Uncle Harry, he is well cared for by the whole family who loves him dearly. It is heart wrenching to imagine someone like him or anyone, let alone someone elderly having to live in an unsafe, pest infested house where every day is a struggle fraught with endless challenges. For these vulnerable ones, their days are  spent in unhygienic and hazardous living conditions. I've come to realize that this is a sad reality for many of our Elderly... Care Corner lives out its vision by aiming to provide Care to every corner in Singapore. It has provided a place of belonging, love and care for my uncle and countless numbers of our elderly. I am truly grateful and choose to partner them in this fundraiser as they celebrate their 40th Anniversary. By doing so, Care Corner will be able to  do what it does best, which is to touch more lives, through your generosity. Please do Journey with me to help our Seniors live Better lives. After all, doesn't Everyone deserve to live a life of Dignity? We are ever so grateful for your kind support. Thank you for being that special someone who lifts people up and makes this world a better place.  “The greatest gifts are those which come from the heart”   ❤️God Bless!

We hope to share some love and joy even as we go through another phase of heightened alert. We will be updating our progress during the 40 days period via Instagram.   You can follow our progress by clicking here: https://www.instagram.com/specz4kids/ About the Cause we are fundraising for: Goal: Provide children from low-income families with new spectacles  Childhood myopia is common and worsens through childhood. Children from low-income families are unable to afford a pair of spectacles or settle for poorly made ones with outdated degrees that are unsuitable for their progressive myopia. At school, these children cope with blurred vision and struggle to see the whiteboards and screens clearly. This results in academic stress, poor self-esteem and a higher risk of other eye diseases. All it takes to change their life’s trajectory is the right pair of spectacles.  Meet Amelia* Amelia (12) was referred to our Family and Community Services for various behavioural issues. She once stole a pair of spectacles from her classmate. Confiding in a social worker, Amelia shared that she did it because she desperately needed a new pair. The spectacles she had were old, cracked and the degree was too low for her to see the class whiteboard clearly. After her parents’ incarceration, she was placed with her relatives who were already struggling to feed their growing family. Fearful of burdening her relatives and ashamed to tell her teachers, Amelia kept the secret to herself. We applied for financial aid on her behalf and soon she was able to make a new pair of spectacles with improved features. It made such a difference to her. Amelia is not alone. There are many children like her whose families cannot afford this simple necessity. We can help provide a clearer vision. One child at a time, one pair of spectacles at a time. *Not her real name Donations received from 2 August 2021 to 10 September 2021 will be eligible for matching fund by Tote Board, subject to approval.

Our Story: As part of Care Corner Singapore's 40th anniversary this year, Family Support Services is raising funds for one out of five special causes that is close to our hearts to commemorate this milestone in a meaningful way. Join us in ‘40 Days of Lelong’ from 16 July to 10 Sep 2021. Let’s join our 4 live flea market sessions via Facebook to give hope and bring care to our beneficiaries in a tangible manner.  The details of the 4 live flea market sessions are as follows: Facebook Live Dates: 16, 20, 23, 27 August 2021 @https://www.facebook.com/carecornersg/ Time: 12pm to 2pm  Sales from the 4 live flea market sessions, as well as all donations raised from this campaign will go into the emergency medical funds for transnational families in need.  About The Cause: Goal: Support transnational low-income families in need of emergency medical funds As of 2016, 1 in 3 marriages in Singapore consist of transnational marriages. Some of these families are facing financial difficulties and securing a long-term stay in Singapore. Many spouses do not qualify for medical subsidies due to their foreigner status and thus struggle to cope with daily responsibilities, as well as struggling to pay medical bills in times of medical emergencies or if they have chronic illnesses. Supporting transnational families ensures families have their basic needs met and prevents a lifetime of risks and adversities from poor nutrition and lack of medical care from the start.

Hello just a final update that Care Corner has raised its target of $20k for marginalised youth. With Tote Board matching it, its $40k. So there's no need for further donation. Thank you all for your kindness and my run has contributed ~$1k ($2k after Tote's match). It means I need only run 1km at 5:00 on Sat hehe. But I will make up 3km at 5:00x2 and 5:30 which I didn't match in my 10km run last week. Cheers 😁Update on First of 10km Run: So grateful for the donations that made this run possible. I haven't been running 10km for many months. So my strategy was to to hit the hardest km (4:30) early and keep the easiest km (6:00) as a wild card as long as possible whilst running the rest (5:00-5:30). As it was, I needed to run the wild card by the 6th km and my body crashed at the last 3km, finishing in average ~6:30/km for that 3km stretch when supposed to run 5:30 and 5:00x2. All in, I managed the 10km in about 56mins. All donations go to the cause 😁 Please see the gallery for the Run breakdown.Looking forward to the second 10km with a better strategy to keep pace.* * *Almost every other run is like a mental gymnastic at least for me. It's pretty normal, at my age (50), to have thoughts of just another 10 more minutes in bed or it's a good day to "nuah". So defying these thoughts is a challenge in itself.Although I've finished over 10 marathons (best time under 4h) and a full Ironman triathlon, with age catching up, nowadays I train for 1500m with occasional 5km runs every now and then as part of training for that. Rarely do I go over 5km now.So my targets are going to be a serious challenge for me. I will put in the "extra mile" as this is for a good cause. In return for your donation to youth in need, this is what I will endeavour to complete for each of the four consecutive weeks starting from the first week of August 2021 (i.e. a total of 4 10km runs in 4 weeks, 1 run each week in August 2021):Each Run Distance: Up to 10KMTarget Number of Donors: 40. (Up to 10 for each Run.) One donor for each KMTime Target:$20 donation: 6:00 (i.e. I will run one km in roughly 6 minutes or below within the (up to) 10km run).$30 donation: 5:45.$50 donation: 5:30.$100 donation: 5:00.And $200 or above donation: 4:30.Personally I would prefer the smaller donations for easier run meh LOL, but feel free to challenge me for a good cause haha. If there are more than 40 donors, no worries, I will defy more by running more, maybe by further two weeks or 10+km runs. After each Run, I will update with stats from my Garmin watch. Many thanks for your kindness. Cheers.
