#RunwithFriendsIn early August 2020, We were challenged by our friend Loïc to run a half marathon. Since then, We have been working out quite hard every week to be phisically able to run the half marathon in Siem Reap. First we thought we could do it in 2h, but after some training, we think we can do it in 1h50min. Our Wives and children are supporting us (including pushing us out of bed at 5h30 am on Sundays). By doing so, we want to contribute with the fundraising of Friends. The raised money during those few days is to support children education in Cambodia. Do you want to help us to get to the finish line on the 6th December and support children's education in Cambodia??? Great!

I'm raising funds for Friends-International, the NGO I moved to Cambodia for one year ago. Friends provide holistic services for street children and other vulnerable children, youth and families to get them out of danger and back into school or training and safe employment. COVID-19 is pushing more families into poverty, causing a rise in parents turning to sex work and other dangerous occupations, as they have no other option to support their families. Your donation will help us get them out of risky situations and back into school or safe employment. Thank you!

Hello dear friends and family. I've just moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to work for Friends-International. I'm working on partnerships and fundraising for this fantastic organization. Friends-International saves lives and builds futures for vulnerable children, youth and their families in Cambodia and across South-East Asia. I'm running 5K this year at the Angkor Wat half-marathon. While I'm training for the event, I will also fundraise for Friends-International! Thank you for donating to Friends! If you want to know more about our work, I'm happy to tell you all about the activities and how we are making an impact.

I recently joined as a team member for Friends International this year. FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL A LEADING SOCIAL ENTERPRISE SAVING LIVES AND BUILDING FUTURES OF THE MOST MARGINALIZED CHILDREN & YOUTH, THEIR FAMILIES AND THEIR COMMUNITIES IN SOUTH EAST ASIA AND ACROSS THE WORLD.As part of the integration process, I've had to go into the field and see the communities where our team is doing good work. Experiencing everything first hand, although it is but a fraction of what our #EverydayHeroes from Friends International and Mith Samlanh are doing, is definitely worth running 10K for. So please join me, support the cause by donating!

Alternatively, you can even sign up to show your support in person on the big fundraising day! Having recently joined ChildSafe as an ambassador, I found myself understanding children's rights issues on a more global scale and hold this cause very close to my heart. It would mean so much to me and my fellow ChildSafe ambassadors if you took the time to donate, share or participate in this event. Many thanks!

I'm making a difference by raising money for a cause close to my heart. I am a team leader of one of Friends-International's initiative which is the ChildSafe Ambassadors, which aims to empower all members of society to protect children from all forms of abuse and exploitation. In wake of COVID-19, a lot of the fundraising initiatives and other fun runs that would have helped to support this important organisation has had to be cancelled. I'm not much of a runner (so I hope you're happy with a brisk walk) but this cause is close to my heart so any little amount will help us reach our goal.

A pandemic in 2020 was the last thing on everyone's mind. Sadly for all, it has come - it has destroyed industries and strong support networks for societies already vulnerable. We can all do a little to help each other out and I am looking forward to return to beautiful Cambodia and Angkor Wat to support the amazing Friends International and their work across S.E. Asia and beyond. My first and only half-marathon to-date was in 2018, also for Friends International - where with your generous help I managed to raise $1,358 (or 90% of my target). However - I suffered an injury in training, just 5 weeks before the marathon with clear instructions from the physio of no exercise for 4 weeks. It did not deter me and I took the recommended long break before the marathon and pushed until the very end with 2hrs and 12 mins finishing time.In 2020, I will be travelling from Indonesia to Cambodia to do the same run. I am committed to doing 21km once again (even through I said I will never do it again in my life ever)...I cannot increase the distance but I can try my best to better my time and raise more to help more! Below is some brief outline of the amazing work of Friends International and how far your kind donation can make a difference. Please note - all money raised goes direct to the organisation. All registration, travel, accommodation and other related costs are covered by me. With 4 months on the clock, I start training on the 20th August (after clearing compulsory 10-day quarantine in Lombok, Indonesia) with regular updates on this page. Why #RunWithFriends? To empower the most marginalized children & youth to take control of their futures and break out of the cycle of poverty!  Friends-International is an award-winning NGO and social enterprise empowering marginalized children, youth and caregivers in South East Asia. Last year, we supported more than 84,000 children, youth and their families to get education, training or find meaningful employment and create better lives for themselves. Join in on the fun this year and #RunWithFriends to help us reach our goal and continue providing support, education and employment opportunities to those who are needing it most in Southeast Asia.Your impact Every dollar counts and we are grateful for any support no matter the size. Here a few examples of the impact you could have...$2 - hygiene kit for a child for a month$10 - health care for a student for a month$25 - one school kit (including a uniform, pens, books...) for a child to go to school$50 - one month of vocational training for one student$150 - one student placed into a job and provided with material (clothes, transportation, etc)$250 - all costs to help one youth or caretaker to start their own small business$500 - one year of sports and recreation materials for 250 students$1,000 - five families provided with training and material to start a poultry business$5,000 - six months of vocational training for 16 studentsWith 4 months on the clock, I start training on the 20th August (after clearing compulsory 10-day quarantine in Lombok, Indonesia) with regular updates on this page.

The Covid19 health crisis is rapidly becoming a human and social crisis as well, with the lost income being crucial for some of the poorest families in a country without a safety net, including street waste pickers, homeless families, members of the informal economy and the new unemployed due to the hit Covid brought to small businesses and the tourism industry. I know this is a trouble time for everyone but, in case you're still managing to sustain a regular income and would like to contribute for the ones who haven't, this campaign would be a sustainable way to do it. We don't want to just give away, but to help people to help themselves. For achieving that, I've partnered with Friends-International, an international NGO and social enterprise already on the field providing services to save lives and build futures for over 55,000 marginalized children, young people and families in Southeast Asia each year. Marginalized families don't have savings or safety nets to fall back on and require immediate emergency support to survive this crisis. Your donations will:- Provide immediate life-saving support such as food (rice, cooking oil, canned fish, soy sauce, etc) and hygiene materials (soap, hand sanitizer, sanitary pads, baby diapers, etc) - Prepare for the long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts, including through market-aligned vocational training, employment support and job placement for those who have lost their livelihoods- Continue the work of the field teams who already know the families in need and implement a sustainable approach to their empowerment instead of a mere one-time-only charity giveawayFor instance a $50 donation supports a family for one month in order to rebuild their lives. Also for every $50 you give I'll give you a free photo! Check my profile at instagram.com/migueljeronimophotography and choose any picture you like (besides anything that clearly says in the caption it was done for an organization, due to copyrights) and send me your choice to migueljeronimophotography@gmail.com, I'll send you the file and permission for you to print out :) My name is Miguel and I'm a photographer based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where I've been working on projects related to some of the most underprivileged communities such as the edjai, the street waste pickers. Cycling along the city it's possible to see the effects of Covid19 in many families, with people living on the streets being the most at risk with no access to food, hygiene supplies and other essential materials. I've been taking photos of many of them to raise awareness to various social issues so, now, I'm hoping I can contribute with a more hands-on project. Thank you for your support!

In Cambodia, parents have no legal obligation to send their children to school. And if they don't have enough money, they might choose to keep their children out of school so they can earn money - scavenging through rubbish dumps for recyclables, begging, or other dangerous areas of work.Today I visited a slum area in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh and was greeted by a lot of small children who should have been in school but aren't - maybe because their parent is a drug user, an alcoholic, or simply doesn't understand the value of them going to school. Friends International is providing these children with remedial education so they can catch up with the school curriculum and eventually enroll in public school, while also carrying out community awareness campaigns on the importance of sending your children to school. They also provide the children with basic healthcare and make sure they're not in danger. Every pound you give will support this and much more of the amazing work Friends does in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. Thank you!!!https://friends-international.org/our-solutions/
