Ti-Ratana Welfare Society is a charitable organisation that can help the elderly and orphans. Across the world, about 1 billion children are multidimensionally poor, meaning they lack necessities as basic as nutrition or clean water. In Malaysia, 1 in 5 children under the age of five is too short for his or her age due to the lack of proper nutrition. More than 600 million kids and teenagers struggle to meet the minimum requirements in reading and mathematics. Moreover, 1 in 9 individuals faces the threat of hunger.Persatuan Kebajikan Ti-Ratana, Malaysia is a community that provides educational programs, youth activities and welfare activities for children, youths, adults and seniors. Their aim is to provide service for a healthy society. The goal of our team– ‘Lighthouse for Wishes’ is to raise funds for this organisation to ensure all those children in need get their necessities.“Light up the night, light up the wishes” is our slogan. The functions of the lighthouse are to shine brightly in the night to give awareness to the ships in the sea. Because of these functions, our project as a team is able to make an impact for the children who are very special and also need help from us. We are from Heriot-watt University. Our original intention is to help children in welfare homes realize their dreams. In this project, we are advocating protection for children and aid in services to make their dreams come true. By doing so, we are able to learn and understand more effective communication towards children as well as increase awareness in orphanages.

We're proud to introduce to you, StepByStep, a crowdfunding project organised by a group of students from Heriot Watt University Malaysia. Many of us are incredibly blessed to have basic human needs: a roof over our heads, food on our table, and basic healthcare. However, not everyone is as fortunate as you and me. Hence, we believe that it is time for a change! Through our project, our goal is to raise funds that can lighten up the lives of people in need by helping them one step at a time.Our logo is the perfect illustration of our purpose for this project. In Malaysia, we can always notice some children and elderly sleeping by the roadside and begging for food and drinks. This condition has not been improved after decades and those needy people are still in hard and suffering condition in order to survive. The main reason is truly the lack of action of Malaysians and the reluctance to provide help. Hence, the main objective and mission of this project is to raise public awareness, and encourage people around us to help the needy population. This project will be promoted through social media, and some interactive activities will also be held to raise awareness and spread knowledge.

As a charitable non-profit, Ti-Ratana has no main source of income to sustain itself. Hence, it requires aid from others to continue its establishment. On their website, there is a “wish-list” of which lists items which they would like donations of. Hence, by donating boxes full of said items, we are in a sense “granting wishes” for them. It is common knowledge that an organisation as big as Ti-Ratana would not be able to fund all the needs of the less fortunate. Hence, it has given that they will have a wish-list of things that they need but are unable to provide. Thus, we will function as the middle person to get donations from others and fulfil the items on their wish-list to the best of our extent, hence, the title "Granting Wishes for Ti-Ratana". This project will be done by using charity box to get donations or helps from the society. We will promote our project in our social media platform which is Instagram and crowdfunding using the simplygiving website. We hope that we can lend a hand to help more less fortunate people to feel the warmth. We believe that the small things we are doing can make a big difference for them.

Nowadays, the awareness of mental health has been increasing compared to the last few decades. However, it is still not enough, especially due to the rapid increase of suicide and depression rates due to the pandemic. Our name, HWUM We Care, aims to do exactly as we stated. Not only do we aim to spread awareness about mental health during this tough time, but we also will show our love and care through our product which is the self care packages. Through this product, we hope it will make it an impact on those who purchase our product, whether it be a big or small impact. Through the self care packages, we hope that those who are struggling mentally and emotionally can feel loved and cared for. We ensure to remind the public that We Care.
