Hey everyone, it's Jun Ian here! I'm thrilled to announce an amazing challenge for 2024. Starting today, January 1st, I'm embarking on a journey that combines fitness and giving back, and I want you to join me.Here's the deal: for every new follower gained throughout the year, I'll be doing one push-up and donating RM1 to Dignity for Children. That means the more followers we gain, the more push-ups and donations I'll be making. But wait, there's more: for every RM1 that you donate to Dignity for Children, I'll match it with one push-up. Your donations won't just support an incredible cause; they'll also motivate me to keep pushing myself physically every day. I'm committed to this challenge for the entire year, and here's the exciting part—I'll be updating you weekly with the total push-ups done and the amount donated. Remember, it's about more than just numbers—it's about creating genuine change. So join me on this journey, spread the word, and let's make every push-up count for something bigger.Stay tuned for weekly updates, witness the progress, and let's make 2024 a year of positive change and fitness!Thank you for your support. Let's make this happen!

The coronavirus pandemic has dominated headlines for much of 2020.  2020 has been a year of uncertainties, with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and its ongoing repercussions affecting millions of people from all walks of life. This has certainly hit the poor and marginalised the hardest and many children of this community have been forced out of school to help out in their family or simply have no access to any form of education due to their circumstances, depriving them of the single most valuable resource to emerge from poverty, that is education. Education is at the heart of UKEC.Despite the pandemic and the trying circumstances, there is always hope, always a silver lining, and always light at the end of the tunnel. As 2020 draws to a close, we want to encourage one another, calling upon all who have a heart for the nation to show solidarity in love and compassion by donating to support Dignity for Children Foundation. This December, we are supporting the work of Dignity for Children Foundation, a local charity helping underprivileged and poor children to break the cycle of poverty through education, in the hope to help transform their lives and the lives of the community around them. We hope to raise awareness about urban poverty in Malaysia and raise RM7,000.00 to empower children at Dignity for Children Foundation. How can you be part of our fundraising campaign? Activity 1: Donate to support Dignity for Children FoundationHelp us raise RM7,000 to empower children at Dignity for Children Foundation.Activity 2: Raise awareness about urban poverty. Take up the #RM9perdaychallenge Experience living under the poverty line According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (Household Income and Basic Amenities Survey Report 2019, pg 103), the average value of food poverty line index (PLI) at the national level in 2019 is RM1,169 per month (calculations based on four-person household size). This implies that those living in poverty in Malaysia are surviving on approximately RM9.74 per person per day. This is in stark contrast to the amount a lot of us would spend on our daily food while going about our routine, not forgetting the occasional weekend outings, festive and birthday celebrations etc. How much do you spend on your daily food while going about your daily routine? Take up the RM9.00-per-day-food-challenge to experience what it means to live one day below the PLI. Share with us how you manage a day with pictures of your food and your afterthought. Tag your friends and share it across your social media to help raise awareness about poverty in Malaysia. Offset what you would normally spend on a day against the PLI value and donate the balance to support Dignity for Children Foundation. For more information, check out the posters in the gallery or visit this page:https://www.instagram.com/p/CINgmiplyoQDon't forget to tag us on Instagram (@ukecmalaysia) & Facebook (@ukec malaysia) and use the hashtags #ukecempowerschildren #RM9perdaychallengeTell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn. Join us to empower a child! Your action can save a life and change a child’s future for good.                                                                               -----All donations will go directly to Dignity for Children Foundation. Donors will have the option to choose whether to pay for the service and processing fees. UKEC Malaysia will not handle any transaction in this process.

Who are we?Project Generosity is a community project by a bunch of compassionate and resourceful young people who have rallied together in the face of the Covid-19 crisis to raise funds to feed the poor and marginalised segment of society. Our ages range from 17 to 22 years and we also call upon other Malaysian youths to join us in being generous during these challenging times so that children, families and individuals with desperate needs can receive urgent help. We, as young people, may not have a lot, but if we are united, we know we can do wonders at such a time as this! What is our Cause? The Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia has seen the government provide an economic stimulus to Malaysians. However, many of the urban poor in our community, including refugees, are not beneficiaries of such benefits. At this time of the pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO), the urban poor and refugees in our midst are in a dire situation. With no permanent jobs and mostly earning from day to day, all opportunities to bring home some money have come to a sudden halt. With no way to feed their families, let alone stock up on any form of food, this group of people are the most vulnerable and needy in our society today. As such, we have initiated Project Generosity https://www.simplygiving.com/project-generosity to help answer the urgent appeal of Dignity for Children Foundation (Dignity), an NGO that has been helping to feed and educate the urban poor and refugee children for the last 22 years. https://dignityforchildren.org/covid19appeal/ Malaysia is known for its culture of hospitality and her people’s generosity knows no bounds – even more so, knowing that children and families will starve if urgent aid in the form of food and daily essentials are not delivered to these “hotspots” of deprivation in Kuala Lumpur. We believe that no matter how old or young one is, we can always do something. In this time of fear and uncertainty, let us come together to show that love, compassion and GENEROSITY are very much alive!

Hello my dear family & friends,My birthday is coming and I'll be turning 35 on the 29th of this month!I have been reflecting on my life's journey recently and I am thankful for this wonderful life that God has given to me. But I always believe that life is not just about ourselves, we are born with a purpose, we live for a cause and we are part of a story - to make this world a better place & to help others to be a better human. In the end, it is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts.I've traveled to many different countries for humanitarian work and served the poor in many places. I've seen some hardcore poverty and I know that needs are everywhere. Yes... we can't help everyone, but we can help someone. We can't do everything, but we can do something. I will continue to do my part and I hope it will inspire many more others to do the same.Every year I’ve been blessed + surprised with big birthday celebrations by my beloved family and friends. But this year, I've decided to do something different. Instead of receiving expensive gifts & unending meal treats from friends like you, I would like to raise funds for a cause close to my heart - to break the cycle of poverty. Yes, I would like to support some poor kids to go to school. I want to shift this 'give me' notion to 'give them' - a birthday celebration that empowers underprivileged children. It's more blessed to give than to receive. I believe that education can break the cycle of poverty and I want to start from the children in our own backyard - the poor and refugees in our own country. Therefore, I'm pledging my birthday donations from this give-back campaign to Dignity For Children Foundation (www.dignityforchildren.org) [Do check out the video below]. President Obama's Comment & Visit to Dignity For Children Foundation:http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/president-obama-visits-refugee-children-malaysia-article-1.... https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2015/11/21/remarks-president-obama-dignity-children-foun...I chose to partner with Dignity because they carry a deep sense of commitment in transforming the poor through education and their core values resonate with mine. Therefore, I can assure you that your seeds of giving will be sown into good ground. So, if you are thinking of giving me a gift for my birthday, this shall be my best birthday gift - donate and give to this cause.Let's fight poverty, return childhood, restore dignity, bring hope and redeem the poor."He who opens a school door, closes a prison" - Victor HugoThank you very much for your love and support. Thank you for making my 35th birthday a special one.My life is enriched because of you!"Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." - Martin Luther King Jr. Much Love,Shirley"No one has ever become poor by giving." - Anne Frank. This campaign period: 08/05 - 08/06 (1 month) (NOTE: Please indicate your name /nickname if you can so that I can thank you personally, however, if you prefer to be 'anonymous', please send me an FB message if possible to identify yourself so that I can thank YOU too. I do not wish to take anything for granted, just want to be thankful for your generous giving.)-------F.A.Q for Donors:https://simplygiving.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/201183297-For-DonorsNote: Friends from overseas are welcomed to participate (by your country's currency via the credit card service)HELLO

The plight of Sri Lanka's neediest children is desperate and urgent. They suffer as innocent victims not only of persistent ethnic conflict, poverty, alcoholism and violence directed against women and children, but also in many cases they have been traumatized by losing family members, friends, home and belongings to the tsunami catastrophe. Our mission is to improve the health, sanitation, nutrition, education, and general well-being of poor and needy children living in remote areas of Sri Lanka. Our projects address the individual needs of Sri Lanka's most disadvantaged children: orphans, tsunami-affected children, and handicapped children. Our approach is to identify needy children in remote areas, match them with donors seeking to assist exactly such children, and facilitate small scale projects that match donors' aims with the needs of individual children.

I'm a medical graduate and currently working as a substitute teacher while waiting for my horsemanship posting. Currently I'm teaching additional mathematics in SMKA Al-Mashoor (L). This is my fourth school and I felt something is missing everytime I left each school. Did I teach them just to fulfill the syllabus requirement or there is something more that I can do to equip them with values which will be of great use to humanity? The project - feeding by students will aim at give the students first hand experience on volunteerism and activism. They - the students - will do by themselves the preparations needed; for example buy the packs item, packaging it, put the words of wisdom, finding the needy and distribute the.
