We are raising funds again for Yayasan Chow Kit. Tini, our favourite warrior, works tirelessly to protect all children. And we want to be able to support that. We hope that this will be our new family tradition. We will be supporting YCK's Baby Health Fund this year. YCK offers support to families who need help to take care of their infants as well. Many of YCK's clients are from the marginalized and low-income community in Kuala Lumpur hence they might not have access to the best pre-natal care during pregnancy. More often than not, they only realized that their infant needs immediate medical care after they are born. When such cases are referred to us, YCK's only option is to reach out to generous donor for additional support as it is challenging for them to gather such huge amount of money in a short period of time. The stress and desperation to the parents who do not have the means to pay for their babies'care are unimaginable. Some are refused treatment when funds are unavailable. Some take their babies out of the hospital prematurely for fear that they cannot pay the fees. YCK's motto is "Every Child Matter", and we will fight to help every case that is brought to their attention. Your support will give them the opportunity to grow up and thrive. Naya is also taking part in #MYGiving. We will raise funds and raise awareness for YCK. #EveryChildMatters!

Every Child Matters I'm throwing my hat in the ring and doing silly dares all in the name of charity! Please support me. This is why we need to help YCK:"It’s been a terrible year for Yayasan Chow Kit, financially. Even though we are blessed with loyal supporters and friends who rally to our side when we wanted to support a sick child or family, we find it difficult to keep ourselves afloat for operations and our social workers programme or to fix the roof, support our safehouse and staff in PJ or pay to renovate our house in Langkawi or kickstart our programmes there. We only have 7 more months of funding to keep ourselves afloat while we lobby and campaign for bigger grants to be approved. This is a first for us! It’s never been so dire. So we’re trying to do smaller funding initiatives to muddle through while we restrategize, reframe our programmes and help more children than ever before. From now till the 31st of December, I will be sharing the kinds of work we do and our programmes. How much we need per pillar and programme. How many children and families it affects and what it means to us if you we could hold on to your generosity and love for just a little bit longer. While we don’t want handouts, it would be great if all of our YCK friends would consider investing in us a little bit more than usual. Times are hard. Corporates are looking for different kinds of initiatives. Love the idea of social entrepreneurship and impact investments and Return of Investments. We want to do it too. But all of this takes time. In the meantime, some of us still have to deal with sick kids, hungry kids, kids who need alternative education, rent, water damage and putting a roof and providing shelter for vulnerable children. If you have ideas or thoughts to help us keep afloat till the big ideas come or extra change to spare, please donate to our general fund and our social workers programme. Thanks so much!" Tini Zainudin, Founder of Yayasan Chow Kit and a great friend! 18 Nov 2019OUR DARES ARE - If I raise more than:RM 2,000 I will stuff 15 marshmallows in my mouth and recite “Merry Christmas” after each one at our office Christmas PartyRM 4,000 I will wear a long curly wig to the office Christmas Party RM 6,000 I will wear a Tutu at the Christmas Party RM 8,000 I will do the Macarena or Kiki dance at the Christmas Party.. and post this on social media RM 10,000 I will do all of the above!

I have been teaching HipHop classes for the youth at KL Krash Pad for 3 years now. I call them the 'kool kids' because they are always keen to learn, full of energy and have good musicality in dancing, loves singing and even rapping! During our time together, the group has grown so much, from being shy during the first few sessions, to being able to communicate when we have international dancers and local musicians sharing workshops, expressing themselves well and performing confidently in public showcases. They turn up for class no matter rain or shine, always ready to share good vibes, and they have taught me the values of dedication, support and love.  Yayasan Chow Kit does tremendous work in providing a safe haven for at-risk children and youth to grow in a holistic and supportive environment, equipping them with social skills and academic achievements, and keeping them out of dangers on the streets. The function of YCK is very important in helping stateless youths find their voice and achieve greater potential in their lives, providing them with opportunities just as any child would deserve. Indeed, every child matters, and every little bit counts. Your support will help YCK on their continuous effort in protecting and championing child rights.

Hi, my name is Sebastian, I am 10 years old and I’m going to swim a 100km to raise money for the children at Yayasan Chow Kit. “What is the difference between an orphanage and a shelter home?” The motif we carry to raise the awareness of Yayasan Chow Kit through a simple question of what is the idea of a shelter home? This project encompasses the main goals of fund raising and raising awareness for Yayasan Chow Kit by carrying out activities which are all elaborated with the resources required in this proposal. Yayasan Chow Kit is a non-government organisation which spans its centres out in two different locations located in Chow Kit. Children from age 7 to 12 years old are placed in the activity centre where it houses 65 to 70 children. Furthermore, around 50 children from the age of 13 to 18 years old are placed at the other centre named KL Krash Pad. This organisation is a shelter home that provides the children with schooling programmes which caters for students within the centre and other public schools as well. Hence, children in the shelter home does not represent that every child are staying in the centre itself. Moreover, only children with special needs, such as homeless parents, stay at the shelter home temporarily. This differs Yayasan Chow Kit from being an orphanage that has full support from the government. Your funding will be used to buy school items for the children and some medicine such as vaccination for children with special needs.

Yayasan Chow Kit, "Every Child Matters"

The children of Yayasan Chow Kit are aged 7 to 12 years old and are considered children at risk. These children do not receive adequate love from their parents and they have no place to go and feel belonged. This is one of the main reasons why Yayasan Chow Kit was formed. The organization does not practice any kind of discrimination or bias as all the children are treated equally. Some of the children are in-schooled because they were born without an identity due to statuses of their families. They are also very talented and filled with enthusiasm when it comes to different fields like theatre, sports, arts and crafts and games. We are Psychology students at HELP University and we have chosen to raise funds for Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK). We are looking at this as a stepping stone to make a change in the community and gather them to make them see that every child deserves equal rights and education. These children should be given all the opportunities to discover themselves and achieve their personal potential. Besides that, YCK is experiencing insufficient amount of money to cover medical expenses. The children with severe health conditions require more attention and donation because proper medical care and cases are highly charged. It would be heartbreaking to see these innocent children with a potentially remarkable future not receive enough care and mindfulness. Every child matters. The money raised for this organization goes to the children's education supplies, school fees and most importantly to their  medical expenses. A minimum of RM500 is aimed and targeted to be raised for these children.

It’s been an amazing journey for us. I feel incredibly blessed to have met Naya 11 months ago. The universe has a way of bringing together things that are meant to be. And I thank our lucky stars everyday! We are also so grateful for the enormous support and love we have received from friends and family. This is Our Village! But for Naya’s birthday, please don’t buy her any presents! Our cup runneth over! You have given us more than enough clothes, toys, books, cots, carseats, rocking-chair, playpen, bouncy things, blankets, etc etc etc. Thank you thank you thank you thank you. If you do wish to contribute something to mark this day, it will mean a lot to us if you would consider making a small contribution to Yayasan Chow Kit (the charity that Tini founded) via this page. We would like to help YCK raise some funds to help pregnant single mothers and families that are having difficulties paying for the hospital and maternity costs, to ease their start of bringing a child to this world. YCK’s motto is “Every Child Matters” and we couldn’t agree more! YCK has been supporting urban poor families who cannot afford medical fees. They have seen cases of babies who were abandoned by their biological mothers as they cannot afford to pay the medical delivery cost. There are some mothers who seek YCK for emergency aid during delivery where YCK has helped by setting up instant fundraising appeals to support.

Stateless children are invisible, with no access to support or services. Please support by donating to help realise their basic rights and needs. More than 290,000 children living in Malaysia are denied access to government schools or public healthcare services. They don’t have citizenship of any country. In most cases, this is because they were born in Malaysia to underprivileged non-Malaysian mothers. They are not able to travel out of the country, and when they grow up, they won’t be able to gain legal employment or get married. Their own children will have the same fate. Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK), a foundation dedicated to helping vulnerable children and youth, has been assisting stateless children obtain birth certificates and find adoptive parents since its establishment in 2008. Among them are two young brothers, now aged 8 and 9. Ananti Rajasingam from YCK explains: “They were born out of wedlock to an Indonesian woman and her Malaysian partner, and later abandoned. They came to us when they were just four years old. When we contacted the Indonesian Embassy in the hopes of finding the mother, it turned out they had no records of such person”. She may have been staying in the country illegally, and in the fear of getting caught, misstated her name in the children’s birth certificates. It is a common story; according to Ananti, many underprivileged parents are not aware of how profoundly the lack of papers will affect their child’s future. Help Yayasan Chow Kit to help these siblings and the dozens of other underprivileged children who seek shelter at the foundation’s drop-in centres every day! Funds are needed for accommodation, meals, school fees, healthcare, therapy and legal services for the children.

Hello, my name is Sean and I'm going to be 10 years old soon.So for my 10th birthday, my parents have asked me that it would be nice to donate my birthday presents to charity. So, here I am, this is my first time fundraising and through this journey I would like to help children, animals and the less fortunate.I hope that you will support me on this journey. Thank you! From, Sean.-----------------------------------------------For Sean's first campaign, he will be fundraising for Ikhmal (supported by Yayasan Chow Kit - a 24-hour crisis and drop in centre for disadvantaged children in Chow Kit). Ikhmal is a 13 year-old boy who dreams one day to raise himself and his family out of poverty. His mother, who raises him by herself, tries her best to juggle her work as a shop assistant and a cleaner, but still struggles to make enough to support Ikhmal and his sister, Nisha. Ikhmal recently obtained A1 in his UPSR exams, and due to his excellent grades, was offered a space at Darul Khifayah. Yayasan Chow Kit is organising a fundraising campaign for Ikhmal so that he can continue his education and achieve his dream of becoming an engineer. All donations raised will go to the recipient.

I am taking this as my personal fundraising initiative and am hoping my friends, family, contacts and network will support. This child has been really special (as all other children) but I have been supporting her since my social work days. It amazes me despite how much she has gone through over the years as a little child- she never fails to quit and is always determined to become someone of herself to be able to support her mom and brother. She is dear to my heart and through her determination, I am inspired to go the extra mile. I thank everyone in advance for your love and support not only towards Kartini but to all other children who's lives we touch.
