Abdi is a 2 year old Somalian boy who is in need of a liver transplant and needs urgent attention. He also has another younger sister who is 1 month old, and his parents are in need of support for his surgery. I first met Abdi through his dad, as he was looking to be a chef with PichaEats to support his family. Abdi's mother is currently looking after him and his sister at home.Currently, he is only depending on monthly medication and his condition restricts him from breathing normally. The doctor only gives Abdi months to live without the transplant. This surgery will save his life and give him a second chance to grow up.Dr Hartini Zainudin and Syed Azmi are also currently working on this case right now and we would appreciate all the help and support we can get.

The project aspires to serve as a beacon for positive change, showcasing the potential impact of such collaborations on fostering social resilience and advancing the well-being of marginalized communities. Donations contribute to various essential needs, including supporting social workers in designing personalized developmental plans, covering documentation costs such as birth certificates and identification cards, offering financial assistance for emergencies or critical situations, facilitating access to education and vocational training, ensuring health and wellness support, providing shelter and foster care, running empowerment programs, and managing an emergency hotline for clients.

Yayasan Chow Kit is a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre providing meals, activities, therapy, case management, and educational programmes for at-risk children and teenagers around Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. Our team have the goals to promote social harmony and equitable education for all children in YCK. As a result, we are committed to assisting YCK's at-risk kids to make sure their rights are protected. The goal of this project is to assist the kids in YCK by giving them a secure and warm space to develop.

The situations these children are placed involuntarily in and what they have to experience is saddening and we as a group can empathise heavily with them. Having a family member with a disability myself, and seeing the obstacles they have to endure, be it employment opportunities, lack of freedom and inability to pursue their lifelong dreams makes our passion to actually make a difference for the better all the more worthwhile. We are a group of students from across Malaysia participating in a leadership program named Program Kepimpinan Tun Razak under the purview of Yayasan Tun Razak. We were given a Corporate Social Responsibility themed task and one of the main objectives is to bring joy to a group of people in need. Our group chose to fundraise for Yayasan Chow Kit because YCK fights for a cause which is close to our hearts, which is providing quality care and service for the overall well-being of underprivileged children. We also resonate with YCK's tagline "Every Child Matters" and thus are fully motivated to join the cause. Child poverty in Malaysia has sorrowful effects... some of the consequences from many others are: extreme malnutrition, higher instances of child labor or trafficking, sexual exploitation in rural areas...Nurturers of Happiness is team of 9 empowered students from Heriot-Watt University Malaysia who are passionate about making a difference in the world and become better version of themselves by helping others. Our main aim is to Boost Happiness to children that are suffering from material and social deterioration. These stateless children may not have the full education as much as we do.We, 12 motivated and passionate students from Heriot Watt University, comes together from different backgrounds, are united with a purpose to help these children to have the full education they truly deserve. We aspire to help these unfortunate children with all our might and knowledge we have gained to put them in good use for the benefit of the children. Nonetheless, Malaysian citizens until now aren’t aware while ignoring the importance and the increasing amount of poor adolescence issues. Hence, the project aims to intensify the public regarding adolescent issues while supporting them to act in this nationwide problem.

Give For Good is a group of engineering students looking to help the less fortunate have a better future. We would like to give to back to society in the form of helping the less privileged. We chose Yayasan Chow Kit to help give the children of tomorrow a brighter future. More specifically, we will be assisting Yayasan Chow Kit's Madyha's Gift initiative. Madya's Gift is a new fund set up to help the critically ill children in Malaysia get access to the medical care they need. Covid-19 has hit the community hard - homelessness, joblessness, limited access to food, education and medical support. As such, we decided to channel our passion for running to fundraise for the Yayasan. You Fund, We Run What is YCK?YCK is a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre providing meals, activities, therapy, case management, and educational programmes for at-risk children and teenagers around Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.All beneficiaries on SimplyGiving are verified so that donors have the confidence that money donated are accounted for in a secure and transparent manner. Donations raised will be transferred directly into the charity's nominated bank account. What does it mean to donors when you donate/fund this charity? Our son Leo was born just under 33 weeks. Thanks to your prayers and support, we are excited to be marking his 100 day milestone on 8 July. While there is much to celebrate and be grateful for, we also recognise that there are families out there who are struggling to make ends meet due to economic hardship brought about by this pandemic. So we'd like to ask you, our family and friends, to join us in celebrating Leo's 100 days by giving a little bit towards 5 single-parent families who have lost their income. Our friends at Yayasan Chow Kit need RM3500 to support these families for 3 months. Each family will get RM200 per month, and they're raising a little extra for one family that also requires assistance to pay rent. We hope you will open your hearts and wallets... even a little goes a long way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for celebrating our son's first 100 days milestone in this meaningful way.

The number of at risk children in Malaysia is growing by the minute and it just breaks my heart. Yayasan works with at risk children in a country where monetary help is scarce and hard to find. Yayasan Chow Kit was incorporated in 2010 but before this, we were a children’s programme under Yayasan Salam Malaysia, a local NGO which looked at connecting volunteers and corporates to community projects and community needs.We were then called, Nur Salam, which literally means ‘Light and Peace”- so we were the ‘house of light and peace’ for children or in other words, a sanctuary. NurSalam was born out of a need to help and protect the children in and around Chow Kit, who were vulnerable and marginalized. YCK’s founder, Dato Dr Hartini, inclusive of Raja Azizan and Kak Arfidah, had worked with the children there for a long time and they knew what the children needed most- a bigger space where very poor and marginalized children could seek refuge, even if it was, for a couple of hours a day, eat and sleep and get involved with basic educational and health activities.The three of us put our heads together, and hatched a plan to find this bigger space.. We partnered with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and the Wilayah Social Department and then engaged with other individuals and corporate bodies and NGO partners. We looked for funding- we asked, begged and did everything ourselves. It was a tough, uphill battle when we first started but we kept at it! The rest, is history!
