The Maclehose Trail - Hiking & Running with a 7,000m elevation gain - close to hiking sea level to the summit of Mount Everest!On Friday 11th - Sat 12th March, I aim to complete the famous and notorious 100km Maclehose Trail in Hong Kong, all 10 sections in reverse from Stage 10 Tuen Mun, through to Stage 1, ending near my home in Sai Kung Country Park. Since Covid stopped all hockey and sailing activities, I have been training since Christmas to get my fitness up and endurance and see if I can complete this very tricky endurance trail. I am dealing with some niggles and injuries from all the training and hope I can keep going on the day.About the Maclehose Trail: The MacLehose Trail is a 100-kilometre hiking trail that crosses much of the New Territories, Hong Kong, The path is marked by distance posts at 500-metre intervals. The trail is named after Murray MacLehose, Baron MacLehose of Beoch, the longest-serving governor of Hong Kong, who established the Country Parks and was himself an enthusiastic hiker. The trail passes through a variety of natural scenery including beaches and mountains. Described as "the Grandaddy" of the Hong Kong hikes. An unforgiving 100km hike up and down some of Hong Kong’s highest peaks and through it’s most stunning landscapes. Beautiful beaches and coastlines, urban views over Kowloon, ridges, peaks, forests, jungles, reservoirs, grassland, monkeys, this hike has the lot. IIt’s not to be taken lightly though, I'll be covering over 7000m in elevation gain, that’s close to hiking sea level to the summit of Mount Everest.Please help me when the going gets tough and I think of the donations coming in for the charity and it will keep me going to the end! This incredible charity makes a difference to the lives of dogs and people across Hong Kong, and by raising money, you'll help them to be there for more dogs in need. So many of the puppies are found in cardboard boxes on the side of the road, and even worse left for dead, but with the help of supporters like you, Catherine's Puppies can find them a loving home. We are so excited that to announce we are putting together a team for Asphodel's “2019 Hong Kong CrossFit Charity Team Competition”, in support of Catherine’s Puppies and rescue animals in HK!Each year they pick a charity to partner with who are in need of support and the work Catherine does for our four legged friends goes above and beyond, so we wanted to lend a helping hand! Money raised from this event will be used to help enhance and strengthen their rescue shelter which was decimated after the recent typhoon season. Additionally, funds will go towards helping with their rent, medical costs for their rescues and a variety of other expenses!The amount of continued bills and expenses are a huge burden to charities like this and so hopefully we will be able to support them and ease some of this pressure!As strong and amazing as the Hong Kong CrossFit community is, it will once again be amazing to help a worthy cause and help our four legged furry friends!Please help us raise money and meet our overall goal of $100,000 HKD
