Good day everyone!We are students from INTI International Subang College, participating in the community service course (MPU 3442), which requires us to do volunteer work for the organization of our desired choice! Unfortunately, due to the current situation, we are unable to carry out various voluntary activities for the organization. Hence, our main goal is online crowdfunding. Despite this situation, we are striving to make the most of it by choosing an organization that is meaningful to us and that we are impassioned about! As we share the details of the organization, we hope you have a deeper understanding of our goals!All Women’s Action Society (AWAM), an independent feminist NGO tends to build a movement to inform, connect, and mobilizes towards the victims of gender-based violence (GBV) such as sexual harassment under the feminist principles. AWAM does provide free counselling services, public education and works directly with government ministry to establish the movement on GBV issues. They are guided in their work with five core values: Collectivism; Compassion & Respect; Courage, Equality, and Justice; Integrity.Regarding the online crowdfunding purpose, we aim:•To financially support the organizations of All Women Action Society (AWAM), especially during this pandemic.•To recruit new supporters and donors by sharing the information on social media such as Instagram and Facebook. •To raise awareness within the society regarding domestic violence and sexual harassment.Fully appreciate your support for bringing a better society to our country.

Your donations will be used for a cause that supports those in need of trauma recovery and legal aid.Why did I choose AWAM?All Women's Action Society (AWAM) is a feminist NGO established in 1985 – just two years before I was born, yo! Now you know my age. ;)AWAM focuses on supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), including rape, domestic violence and sexual harassment. They provide free counselling services and legal information to anyone in crisis, irrespective of gender. I love that they also work directly with government agencies and ministries to advocate for policy change. In fact, AWAM has worked with many NGOs through the coalition called Joint Action Group for Gender Equality (JAG) to draft and propose a Sexual Harassment Bill. The bill will create a safer environment free from Sexual Harassment in both public and private spaces. More info here: https://www.awam.org.my/sexual-harassment-bill-campaign/Since it's my birthday month and it coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month, all funds raised will be directed specifically to Tabung Telenita.What is Tabung Telenita?Nearly 2 years old, Tabung Telenita AWAM is a funding source for women who cannot afford legal and counselling fees.Some of the funds from Tabung Telenita funds are used for AWAM to continue providing support via their helpline, TELENITA. This was especially crucial during the Movement Control Order (MCO) from March 2020 onwards. AWAM saw a high increase in domestic violence and sexual harassment cases. AWAM also plans to start a helpline that caters specifically to youth very soon. The fund is also vital to support the upgrading of TELENITA's phone systems and for the analysis of the TELENITA Database. Statistics from TELENITA are used to inform AWAM's advocacy and to help strengthen the fight against gender-based violence.All funds in Tabung Telenita goes towards:Expanding the accessibility of AWAM's free legal information & counselling services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).Covering transport costs for survivors to go to the police station to make police reports & AWAM's volunteers who assist survivors in this process.Covering legal administrative costs for GBV cases for those who need them.Why RM8,888 as a target?Initially, I was going to match the shortfall of the Tabung Telenita campaign (https://www.simplygiving.com/tabung-telenita-campaign-page), which would be around RM7,000. But, I decided to go with RM8,888 as my birthday falls on the 8th of May, plus I wanted to make it "ong" for those into lucky numbers. ;)If each person donates at least RM50 (or ~12 USD), it would take 178 people to reach the target. I believe in you!How will your donation make an impact?RM50 (or ~12 USD) can transport 3 survivors to the police station to lodge reports.That's around the cost of a three-course meal at a mid to high-range restaurant OR a six-pack of beer OR a cheap bottle of wine. If you have the privilege to afford the luxury, you can afford to donate.RM100 (or ~24 USD) supports the costs of legal information hotline services for an average of 80 survivors per month.Can you imagine? The amount you'd spend on 1 item of clothing at a chain store (e.g. Zara, H&M) can help 80 people in 30 days!RM200 (or ~48 USD) makes it possible to give 3 counselling sessions for a survivor of gender-based violence.Recovery is a journey, and 1 session is not enough to even unpack traumas and begin to heal.You get to show that you care for me in a way that is incredibly meaningful.For those that know me and can't celebrate my birthday with me for whatever reason, this is a great way to celebrate with me. In light of the recent episodes of revolting stories from men and women, sexual harassment has been a scandalous issue for our community. VoiceOUT is a team of 16 students from Multimedia University Malaysia (MMU) , teaming up to send a message to the public on sexual harassment. We believe that we should not criticize, but we should educate instead. In conjunction with our beliefs, we also believe that we can make the world a safer place for everyone. Therefore, we will be helping the All Women ‘s Action Society (AWAM), an independent feminist non-profit organization who helps victims and survivors see the light at the end of their dark and scary tunnel. By contributing to AWAM’s Sexual Harassment Awareness, Redress & Prevention (SHARP) Program, you will allow us to provide these trainings for free to the people who can’t afford them but need them the most. We aim to reach out to pockets of Malaysian society (non-English speaking communities like the Orang Asli estate workers, students in smaller schools). Your funds will pay for materials (posters and etc.) for the communities to use as long as they need it. Sexual Harassment is one of society’s most dangerous but silent contemporary issue. It is reported that over one-third of Malaysian women have been sexually harassed with a majority of cases happening out in public spaces. Unfortunately, this is due to the lack of a safe and accountable way of reporting sexual harassment cases. While there are laws in the employment sector that touches on sexual harassment misconduct in the workplace, sadly for everyone else who is not in the workforce (housewives, students and etc.) the limitation of the Penal Code on sexual harassment makes it difficult and expensive for survivors to get justice. Following KPWKM’s initiative to table a standalone Sexual Harassment Bill, our program will educate the public to take ownership in safeguarding their community that directly supports the Sexual Harassment Bill. To date, AWAM has successfully conducted SHARP Workshops with local and international companies, NGOs, and schools. We have spoken on forums on sexual harassment throughout Malaysia as subject matter experts. AWAM has also just launched our Sexual Harassment Bill Campaign that is not only an awareness campaign on Sexual Harassment but a campaign that we hope will garner tremendous support from the public, local celebrities, university student bodies, etc. that will enable a strong push for the tabling of the Sexual Harassment Bill in parliament this November 2020. We will bring this petition to parliament and we need the numbers to show how much our rakyat want and need the Sexual Harassment Act implemented in Malaysia as soon as possible!

Launched on 25th July 2019, Tabung Telenita AWAM was established as a source of funding for women who could not afford administrative fees required for court cases involving domestic violence, sexual harassment and rape. Even with pro-bono lawyers, admin fees are still required at a minimum cost of RM1000 - RM2000. These funds are also used for AWAM to continue providing support via our helpline, TELENITA. We hold workshops to empower women and children in Batis- AWARE (Associatio of Women in Action for Rights and Enpowerment) where I also voluntereed as a leader of the organization. I am raising fund to create an advocacy art and to hold workshops all around the globe. We create artworks and poems about the realization on migrant workers and their childrens lives. Using art to amplify our voices and raise awareness about women and children's rights. All creations are displayed exhibit/exhibitions to sell and tell about the creation. Proceeds goes to the artists and organization to help sustain the organization.
