After two sell out performances of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ by Eve Ensler, Bangkok Rising are honored to have been invited to perform again for the United Nations in Bangkok. Not only do we wish to highlight the journeys and stories of women across the world through our performance, we also want to raise money and awareness for the large number of Rohingya Women living in Cox Bazaar refugee camp. Many of these women are victims of abuse and violence. Raising money can not only help provide education and help for them but importantly, will help to build women only toilets and bathing facilities. Please help us to help these women.

A home is so much more than four walls, it is a safe place for families to live, laugh and grow. A lot of my friends had to move to other countries and start a new life there. I heard stories of how it is difficult to leave everything behind, and heard stories of difficulties hey faced adjusting to new places. Reading stories of Rohinga women who fled to Bangladesh, with just their clothes on, makes me cry. I wonder how it is to live in makeshift shelters, with no privacy, limited sanitation, and limited opportunities. Women's centers are safe spaces for these women. I want to support this project by donating my lunch from today.  Let's join forces, do good and make women and girls smile. Making a difference has never been easier!check out below links for more details: https://www.facebook.com/unwomenasia/posts/1253370428157306Minara Begum’s story reflects the reality of hundreds of thousands of women caught in one of the world’s fastest growing refugee crisis. http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2018/4/from-where-i-stand-minara-begum

During this holy month of Ramadan, we (a group of friends) would like to support those families who cannot celebrate Ramadan the way they used to. Women in refugee camp in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh need our assistance. In solidarity with our Muslim friends and those women, who need UN Women's support, we are skipping our lunch until the end of Ramadan. Please join us in this journey. Let us all come together in the name of generosity and do our part by donating our lunch money! Escalating violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State triggered the world’s fastest-growing refugee crisis in 2017. Since August 2017, more than 745,000 Rohingya refugees have fled into Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, according to the Inter-Sector Coordination Group, the humanitarian coordination body for the Rohingya crisis. Most of them are women. Some of women were raped, some lost their husbands and became single mothers, caring for their kids. UN Women works to ensure that  Rohingya women and girls are safe and have access to education, health care, and economic empowerment opportunities. Who are you helping?Minara Begum is among the thousands of Rohingya women who fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar. When she saw the houses being burnt down, she ran with her parents, her siblings and her four-year-old daughter. Minara is only 23 years old and has traversed unimaginable hardships to find safety in the Cox’s Bazar refugee camp in Bangladesh. But safety is still a relative term for her. On her list of priorities are income-generating opportunities, better food and education for her daughter, and a secure place to live when the rains come. Minara Begum’s story reflects the reality of hundreds of thousands of women caught in one of the world’s fastest growing refugee crisis.http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/stories/2018/4/from-where-i-stand-minara-begumJoin

Since August 2017, more than 700,000 members of the persecuted Rohingya minority fled Myanmar to Bangladesh's Cox Bazar refugee camps. There were an estimated 905,000 refugees living in Cox Bazar (as published in August 2018, source: https://reliefweb.int/report/bangladesh/rohingya-refugee-response-gender-analysis-recognizing-and-re...), while more are flicking in.  52 percents are women and girls, 55 percents are children under age 18.  These refugees can't work, nor do they receive any education, as they struggled to survive from day to day. Two years on, women and girls remain as the most vulnerable targets. Visitors to refugee camps hear harrow stories of women and girls suffering. "Young and old, pregnant women and new mothers, sexually abused adolescent girls and orphans — their stories reveal loss, fear, worries, grief, hopes, and aspirations."(Source: https://www.worldvision.org/blog/refugee-girls-dreams-education)  In the harsh living environment where people live at the mercy of the weather,  they'd pray the Monsoon season less hostile while supplies of drinking water and food to be continuously provided. News of women and girls subject to human trafficking often surfaces (source: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/05/rohingya-girls-rescued-traffickers-bangladesh-190512101949513...).  There aren't enough women-only toilets and bathing facilities. Women must dare the darkness to go to the camp toilets at night, worrying harassment and attacks. Our heart aches to hear inequalities and sufferings of others.  In this holiest month of Muslims - Ramadan, I'll skip lunch (from today) and unnecessary shoppings, donate the savings to help Muslim Rohingya women and girls. I hope you can do your part to help these women in suffering. Even refugees deserve proper sanitation and protection! (P.S. Ramadan month between May 5, 2019 to June 4,
