Klimb Kinabalu – Fight Against Cancer MAKNA turns 25 this year!To significantly mark the milestone, MAKNA hasbeen able to gather 25 climbers, including cancer survivorswho will summit Mount Kinabalu on 29 July 2019. The expedition, named as Klimb Kinabalu is part of MAKNA’s most anticipated annual fundraising effort. Climbing the 4,095meter-Mount Kinabalu is regarded by each individual climber as a personal journey and challenge. Each individual has had their own story coming face-to-face with cancer, battling the dreaded disease. Every story is unimaginably harrowing but still inspiring. Besides cancer survivors, this group of 25 climbers is made up care givers, cancer patients’ family members, their friends, colleagues, volunteers and other individuals like you. All-in-all, there are 25 touching stories waiting to be shared. The word “CANCER” can sometimes bring us down, but to this group of survivors, caregivers and volunteers, they will be going all out to lift others up. They have come together to inspire those undergoing cancer treatments to become active despite their diagnosis, with the sole and special aim to raise awareness and generate funds. This team that will soon embark the said journey would like to appeal to your generosity in making “a small donation” as a token of your support towards this cause. Donations received will ultimately be channeled to deserving and poor cancer patients in Malaysia. When the funds start to flow in steadily and gradually reach the target, this will certainly be a morale booster to all climbers. Every donation counts, it brings a meaning to someone’s life. July 2019 is significant to me and my family as we commemorate the 20th year when we lost my mom to cancer. For 4 months, she went through an extremely difficult, and oftentimes painful, ordeal as she battled the big C. But unfortunately, she lost that battle. And I would like to honor her memory with this climb. I would also like to dedicate this climb to other family members and friends who had or are going through cancer - the survivors and those who remained strong and brave to fight their battle to the end. This climb won’t be easy for me but it is somehow symbolic of what they all went through. I want to conquer my fears. I want to triumph over the challenges. I want to overcome defeat.

As a Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) survivor, I have received tremendous support from family, relatives, friends & society. The efficient patient programme I am enrolled in has given me access to treatment & drugs. I am well & strong today. For this, it is time for me to give back so others can receive the support I have been blessed with. In 2017 I climbed Mount Kinabalu but did not summit due to fear of heights, in 2018 I reached the peak holding the assuring hand of my abang "guide",in 2019, for the 3rd time, I will HOLD THE HAND of another climber to share our burden together as no one walks alone.Let's join hands together to raise much needed funds for the cancer community, I urge one & all to put in a small token to this cause, it will make a difference as everyone has a role. Nama saya Nor Farizan Binti Faiman dan berumur 37 tahun. Saya seorang penghidap penyakit Kanser Servik.Saya mula di diagnos menghidap penyakit ini pada tahun 2017 ketika saya berumur 35 tahun. Saya telah menjalani rawatan radioterapi sebanyak 25 kali dan Baki terapi sebanyak 2 kali.Penyakit ini menjadikan saya semakin kuat dan tabah melalui setiap ujian yang Allah berikan. Hidup saya bertambah bermakna kerana suami,anak-anak serta keluarga dan sahabat handai sering memberikan sokongan yang kuat dan kata-kata semangat kepada saya untuk menempuhi hidup serta melawan penyakit yang sedang saya hadapi ini. Sekarang masa saya banyak dihabiskan bersama dengan keluarga tersayang serta Kumpulan Sokongan Kanser Support Group dan NGO Kanser Muar.Selagi hayat dikandung badan,selagi itu saya tidak akan berhenti untuk membantu menyebarkan mesej mengenai kanser.Sokongan dan sumbangan anda adalah untuk membantu pesakit kanser yang amat memerlukan bantuan. Cancer strikes so randomly we are increasingly surrounded by family and friends going through private physical, emotional, and financial battles we know nothing about. Although it is hard to say we know their pain, when we don't, the least we can do is to be there for them as they reach deep within themselves to find the strength to climb another hill in sickness or in health. For those of us fortunate enough to have our health, let us use our ability to support MAKNA to give meaningful assistance to those who need it.
