Water for Cambodia (MAD's Local Partner)

Hello everyone! Let me start by telling you how I got involved in this amazing organization; MAD Campaign. I was actively searching for a non-profit organisation where I can donate and trust it will be chanelled to the right people, and I came across MAD Campaign led by Navin Muruga and Charu Agarwal. I must say, I'm so impressed by their efficiency and professionalism in organizing everything for the volunteers. If YOU want to lend a helping hand, you can donate and visit the site as well to know exactly how the funds are being used and how much of difference you're making in another part of the world. Sadly, I was unable to create a fundraising page prior to my trip so I donated on my own and participated as a volunteer. After the trip, I am more than determined to raise funds and to go for more trips organized by MAD. They work closely with Water for Cambodia and with that they are able to build the water filters, install it in the rural villages and as well as maintain it for the next 15 years! Families in these villages are able to get clean and filtered water because of YOU. Join me and participate with me on our next trip. Before that, let's help to fundraise to get them more filters ! Let's do this together !

According to Water.org, 1 in 9 people lack access to safe water. In Cambodia, the lack of access to safe water is experienced by approximately 4 million people out of the total population. I am running this fundraising campaign to buy water filters to be installed at the rural villages in Cambodia. Each water filter costs USD100 and will provide a family with access to safe water for about 15 years. For this project, I am joining MAD, a social business that works together with non profit organisations across various poverty alleviation projects. MAD is working with local non profit Water for Cambodia (WFC) for the implementation of the project. To date, 20,000 water filters have been built and installed resulting in over 120,000 people gaining access to safe water. I will be going to Cambodia to personally install the water filters in December 2018 with a group of volunteers. This fundraising campaign to buy the water filters for the rural families will be running till November 30, 2018. Funds raised on this platform will go directly to WFC for this cause. As such, please support this fundraising effort as generously as you can! Thank you. For more info:MAD https://www.themadexperience.comWater for Cambodia https://www.waterforcambodia.org

Water for Cambodia (MAD's Local Partner)

This August 2018 I will be making a volunteering trip to Cambodia with the MAD Experience (https://www.themadexperience.com/) to install BioSand water filters in rural villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap. In Cambodia, access to safe and sustainable drinking water and adequate sanitation and hygiene facilities remains a challenge, particularly for families in rural areas. Polluted ponds and rivers remain the main source of water for cleaning, bathing and drinking, and access to latrines and hand washing facilities in the home and at school are limited.Although an increasing number of rural households are securing adequate water supplies, ensuring water quality is a challenge. Water contaminated by faeces or polluted as a result of mining and other industrial activities can lead to illness and death among children. A BioSand filter kills 99% of bacteria in clean water. It is simple, low-cost solution that cleans water using a biological process. Each filter cost USD 100 and will provide one family of 7 access to clean water for about 15 years. Make a difference today by supporting this fundraising campaign, every dollar counts. For more information on how the donations are used: https://www.themadexperience.com/how-donations-are-used.

In Cambodia, the main source of any villager's drinking water will come from rain fall. Water is collected in huge cement structures which store it for a long period of time. However, this creates unsafe environment parasites, and can also be the source of mosquito reproduction. This means that many people, especially children, get sick with diseases which can be easily treated but it is also extremely expensive to receive treatment. In August, I will be installing life saving biosand water filters in rural villages on the outskirts of Siem Reap. Each filter cost USD100 and it will provide one family of 5 access to clean water for about 15 years. Hey there! We're Nic, RJ, and Ruba and we're calling ourselves the Water Getters. We've gone from being colleagues to best of friends and now we'd like to bind our forces for a purposeful cause.  What Is Our Fundraiser About?Water is a basic necessity that many of us take for granted but not the people of Cambodia. According to Water.org, approximately 4 million Cambodians lack access to safe water and 6 million lack access to improved sanitation. So our team, the Water Getters, are raising funds to buy biosand water filters which we will be personally installing in the villages. Yeap, that's right. We're going on the field and will be trained to do the manual work! Who Are We Working WithWater Getters is teaming up with MAD (https://www.themadexperience.com), a social business that works together with local nonprofits across various social outreach projects. For this water project, MAD is working with their local partner, Water for Cambodia, whom they've been collaborating with since 2013. Water for Cambodia has to date installed over 20,000 biosand water filters across rural Cambodia which has helped over 120,000 people gain access to clean drinking water. So we know for a fact that our team will be trained by experts to install these filters! How You Can HelpFor the next 14 days, Water Getters will be running a fundraising campaign to buy biosand water filters so rural Cambodians can have access to clean water. We're setting our target at USD 1,500 and hope that you can help us achieve it by donating as little as USD 25. It would also mean the world to us if you could spread the word about our fundraiser so more people can help us reach our target.Thank you!Love,Nic, RJ, & Ruba

My daughters & I are raising funds to help rural villagers gain access to clean & safe drinking water in rural Cambodia.Water is a fundamental human need affecting not just health but education and income for people living in poverty. When a child falls ill from dirty water they are unable to go to school and when a woman spends hours each day just collecting water for her family's needs, she is kept away from an income generating job. In fact, 20% of the deaths among Cambodian children under the age of 5 are caused by water-borne diseases. Children are especially vulnerable to water-borne diseases because their bodies are too weak to fight off diarrhoea, dysentery and other illnesses.     Water is abundant in Cambodia but it isn’t safe to drink. We will help provide sustainable clean drinking water to rural Cambodian families with a BioSand filter which kills 99% of bacteria in clean water. It is simple, low-cost solution that cleans water using a biological process.   We don’t need to make spend a fortune to make a big difference in the lives of those less fortunate than us. We hope that we can do what we can to help. Each water filter costs USD100. Each dollar counts here. So dig deep & donate.   As the saying goes, "If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”  We trust clean water will change Cambodia & we will be part of this reality.     Clean & safe drinking water will change lives. Clean & safe drinking water will stop the cycle of poverty.   Make a difference today. Make this world a better place for the rural Cambodians. Empower them with the basic human right to have access to clean & safe drinking water. Make this happen today.   xoxo Sue Win, Megan Soon & Shermaine Soon ❤️

I always believe in sustainability and not only giving. That's why my partners and I started The Picha Project. What The Picha Project got to do with this? Well..nothing at all. Lol. So sometime last month, I got approached by a soon-to-be-teammates that will be joining The Picha Project and she told me about this thing that she's going for in Cambodia. I'm like, why not?!Growing up in a city, we all never thought that water is that important. We all never do. Because we are so blessed with water everywhere. You can just find water at home, at work, at the mamak stall, in the 7-Eleven. Who would ever thought that water can bring so much difference in a person lives? Sometime last year, during my journey in The Picha Project, we got exposed to many many Social Enterprises that inspired the work that we do, one of them includes Saora Industries. I guess, it just never crosses into our mind that people at the other side of the world are suffering from the things that we took granted for. People actually DIE from drinking water that is not clean. Like we never thought, eating less meat will have a huge impact on our collective health and the health of the planet. We never thought consuming straw is a plastic that affects our environment and our creatures in the oceans. I guess it's just awareness at the end of the day. Please watch this here and your lives will be change! > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdXKniG7lEgUSD 100 will give a family of 5 clean water for 15 years. My goal of USD 10000 will then be able to reach 1000 people/families including mothers and children who currently only have access to contaminated water. Well, it seems impossible, and honestly, I don't think I have the capability to do it. But oh well, GO BIG OR GO HOME. :P (We will see..). Someone taught us that, just add another zero in all your numbers, everything that you do. (Just kidding)All donations go directly to the water filters and volunteers like myself, fund our own trip to help with the installationFAQ's & some bonus info : 1) How does MAD work? Hi, thank you for visiting the fundraising page for Jodi, Wendy, Sharon and Helen. We are travelling to Siem Reap in June as part of a volunteer group organised by MAD where we will be installing BioSand water filters in rural communities. MAD is partnering with Water For Cambodia (WFC), a local Cambodian NGO that has already installed over 12,000 BSF type water filters in rural Cambodia. Each filter costs USD100 and is able to support one family for up to 20 years. For more information please visit the MAD website [http://www.themadexperience.com]. Please note the trip is 100% self funded...and yes, we will be getting our hands dirty! To help raise as much money as possible for this amazing organisation, we have each chosen to undertake a 5k run / walk in the hope you will feel further inclined to sponsor us. Jodi, Wendy and Sharon will take part in the Colour My Heart Run on 24 May 2015 in KL. As Helen has now left KL and is in Muscat, Oman she will also undertake a 5k walk there, no doubt along the beach!Through simplygiving.com you can make safe and secure donations to sponsor this social project.
