Hi, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. I couldn't believe it when they said there are only 3200 tigers left in the wild (down from 100,000 a century ago). According to experts, these beautiful wild cats may be extinct in 20-30 years time unless conservation efforts succeed. WWF aims to double the number of tigers by 2022 through tiger conservation and they need your help. I painted a tiger using acrylic paint on canvas for the first time and hope to raise some money for WWF's I for Tiger campaign. Through simplygiving.com you can make safe and secure donations. Do you believe in a sustainable ecosystem? I've been a long time WWF supporter precisely because of the question above, and for the longest time, been searching for something worthwhile for me to do. There are only 3,200 tigers left in the wild today purely due to human's greed. I feel, it's time for me to give back. I asked some friends what would they pay to see me do. After a couple of days brainstorming, I've decided to participate in a Vertical Marathon. Info below: On 24 November 2013, I will be running in the Swissotel Vertical Marathon 2013 in Singapore. Why this? Firstly, I dislike marathons as I had a knee injury before. But I enjoy climbing stairs, so what's a better union of sports that a vertical marathon? Secondly, I hope to reach out to as many sports enthusiasts as possible to donate to the i For Tigers Campaign. This is my pledge to WWF's i For Tigers Campaign:- for the next 60 days, I will dedicate time and effort and sponsor my own training so that I complete the marathon. Have you ever thought what can you do for tigers? Really! Yes! For tigers! But why? The global tiger population has whittled down from 100,000 a century ago to just 3,200 now. This is happening due to: • Poaching, which includes the illegal trade of tiger parts and products • Retributive killing due to human-tiger conflicts. • Habitat loss and fragmentation, including from illegal logging and commercial plantations. If you can relate further, the haze is the result of such. If we don’t act now, we will lose all of them by 2022. WWF Tigers Initiative is working to secure political will, action and funding to double wild tiger numbers by 2022. Please support me through my challenge of going vegetarian (for 2 weeks… for a start) by donating to my fundraising page. I am celebrating my birthday very soon and this year I promise to make it more meaningful. Growing up, I came to understand how people are so much connected with nature and the species that live in it. That is why for this year, I’m taking up the challenge to celebrate my big day for tigers through WWF’s I For Tigers Campaign. It is a sad reality that from 100,000 a century ago, wild tigers are now down to just 3,200. Tigers like all other animals have no voice. As humans, we have the power to give them a voice and I’m doing so here at my fundraising page for WWF. My challenge will be to celebrate a tiger-themed birthday party with less fortunate kids in my hometown in the Philippines and be able to educate them about tigers and other species and how these animals are very much connected to our lives. When young kids start caring for the environment and have respect for creatures that live in it --- tigers, other animals, trees and people, we can all make a positive change in this world. Please help me spread the word by donating to WWF through my fundraising page.
