Raising awareness of mental health issues is very close to my heart. Over the years I have experienced insomnia, anorexia, anxiety and depression, it can be very isolating and distressing. When I was younger there was a lot of stigma and there was less awareness around how to manage mental health issues. Thankfully things are starting to change and MindHK are doing some wonderful work to build awareness and provide support to the community. The restrictions in Hong Kong have created a lot of stress and uncertainty but MindHK have been incredible in producing resources to help people navigate quarantine as well as COVID19 tips.Exercise is a very important part of my life - I have consistently exercised throughout my adulthood and it helps reduce my anxiety, boosts my mood and improves my sleep. Even a walk with Dingo makes such a difference!As a result, I'm participating in MindHKs February Stepathon where I will aim to walk 350,000 steps across the month. If you have any money to spare, please donate to MindHK and help ensure that people don't face mental health issues alone.

I've always been an anxious person and since 2019, it has gotten worse and worse, to the point where I wouldn't sleep for nights on end and on the nights that I did sleep, I'd wake up in the middle of the night with my heart racing and something I call "the feeling of impending doom". It was scary, and it fuelled my anxiety further. After a series of panic attacks in 2021, I was encouraged to see a therapist and oh boy how it has helped -- even if I was very reluctant and flippant about it at first. Today, I still have my moments but I feel better, my outlook has changed on a lot of things, I feel stronger, more confident and happier. Mental health is something that many people don't feel comfortable talking about and I hope that changes.

We are a team of volunteering colleagues across departments at Zurich Hong Kong, with a single vision - to support the vulnerables in our society. The pandemic has brought drastic impacts on our community since 2020. In view of COVID-19 challenges, over 120 Zurich colleagues have contributed over 1,000 volunteer hours, which positively impacted more than 5,000 lives since 2020. We all are purpose-driven to turn our belief into positive action and impact.

Exercise is beneficial to our physical and mental health, yet around 80% of us in Hong Kong do not achieve the amount of daily exercise recommended by the World Health Organisation. Mayer Brown and Work & Me Asia is proud to support Mind HK Move it for Mental Health Stepathon in 2022. This year, we challenge you all to complete 280,000 steps or more during the month of February, which is around 10,000 steps per day! Participants who completed the steps will receive rewards through Mind HK.What counts as steps?Walk, run, dance, hike, trail run, or skip! Do what works best for you.How to track? You can track your step using your phone health app, or any mobile apps that provides the monthly total steps completed, e.g. Steps App & Pedometer, samsung health and Accupedo Pedometer.
