Unfortunately I, like most people, have had friends and family affected by cancer. Unlike the past the prognosis for those affected is now much better with many new and novel treatments available. These treatments  along with better diagnosis, increased public awareness and improved education on the risk factors make the future much more positive than before. We, at MSD, can be very proud of our contribution to the advancement in treatments. The Singapore Cancer Society does a superb job at not only supporting those directly impacted by cancer but also their immediate family. This support is holistic in that it helps impacted families in many other non-medical areas such as counseling, financial advice, diet etc. I am delighted to have the opportunity to support this very worthy cause. So I ask you to do what you can to support this cause - please contribute what you can as every cent counts!!

Like most people, cancer has struck very near home for me: my mother is a two times cancer survivor. She battled the disease, the chemotherapy and the associated physical and emotional trauma, not once but twice – in 1986 and in 2004 – with determination and aplomb. She is a successful education entrepreneur who did not let the disease conquer her willpower, and continued to work through with sheer grit and determination. She retired from her full-time involvement as a founder-entrepreneur only last year in 2015 at the age of 75. To me, our family and the thousands of students who have been through her school system, she is a terrific role model and an amazing inspiration.

My Encounter with Cancer2 years ago, my mum was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. She was shocked, depressed and worried. So do i.However i knew that i have to cope with my emotions to give her encouragement along the journey.Together with my 2 younger sisters, we took turns to take care of our mum.Today, she is recovered and enjoying her life!!** A big thank you to National Arts Council & MCCY management, fellow colleagues (especially Whee Jim, Paul, Suan, Yuepeng, Samuel, Eunice and more), allowed me to work from M'sia home while taking care of my mum! :)Making a ChangeThe journey of a cancer patient caregiver is an emotional roller coaster ride, it is tough and can be very depressing at times.Since then, i start making little changes in my life. I read books related to cancer stories / research. I become a regular donor to charity organisation providing support to cancer patients and their families.I joined AIA Singapore as a financial consultant, strive to change people's life, by providing solutions to minimize financial risks when illness strikes them. I signed up Race Against Cancer 2015.This year, i am honoured to be invited by Suan (one of the top fundraiser in 2015), be part of the CEOs Against Cancer 2016. Without hesitation, i signed up and i want to be the leader among my families, friends, colleagues to change lives! On 3 July, i will join in the race, together with my dearest husband and our little baby girl in my tummy! It will be a challenge for me, as i will be 7 months pregnant by then. However i believe i can do it!  Please support me and thank you for your kindness and generosity!"KINDNESS can transform someone's dark moment to a blaze of light. You'll never know how much your caring matters.MAKE A DIFFERENCE for another today."    ~ Amy Leigh Mercree, author

Like the most people, I have lost friends and family to cancer. Thankfully, I have also known many who have been diagnosed and, following a hard battle, overcame the disease. Improved public awareness, advances in early detection, disease understanding and the range of therapies available are making a real difference to people’s lives. As a biomedical researcher, I understand the challenges faced in overcoming the complexities of the disease and the difficulties in developing new and more effective therapies. I am privilege to be able to work for a company that is dedicated to improving our understanding of the disease and to the development of more effective therapies. By supporting the Singapore Cancer Society I can go beyond the research to have a more direct and immediate impact. Please do whatever you can to help, participate, volunteer, come along and support on the day of the race or donate! No gesture in support is too small!
