"Sowing Room is a social enterprise that operates from a shelter for abused women, most of whom are domestic helpers. We teach them how to sew and then pay them a fair wage for each piece of item sewn, giving them an income while they are staying in the shelter. For those who are interested in pursuing sewing as a livelihood, we will gift them with a sewing machine when they go back to their home country and also help them start up their business if they need our help." Check out their wonderful creations on Instagram & Facebook @sowingroom.

Employers are encouraged to donate on behalf of their helpers (a wonderful way to show appreciation to your hardworking right-hand women), but helpers are also welcome to donate if they wish. No contribution is too small and no one will be turned away because they can't donate - we all give what we can.

This class means a lot to me and I'll be putting my whole heart into it. I hope to create a space in which our helpers can feel nurtured and replenished in their bodies and minds. No prior experience of yoga is necessary - these will be gentle, nourishing sessions that aim to provide some relief to body aches and tension, and some space and time to connect with the self.
