About Appeal

Dear friends,

I wanted to do this last year as well but ended up sitting on my lazy, procrastinating behind. This year has been one of the most challenging years of my life, and I wanted to celebrate it by doing something more meaningful as I turn 26, instead of just boozing when the money could be better spent.

As many of you know, I am very passionate about the mental health cause, as I have struggled with it, and know of friends and family that do. The attitudes towards mental health are still highly stigmatised, and not nearly enough is being done to not only correct them, but even to prevent. We need to PROTECT our children from the societal pressures, and support them in all the ways we can.

I have no idea how much will be raised but here is a breakdown of how it will be used:
  • 50% of it will go to the Singapore Association of Mental Health (SAMH), specifically for their efforts in the Community Mental Health Education program.
  • The other 50% will be for the volunteer work I am currently doing with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), for the children’s ward specifically. As some of you know, I met with some of the patients there two weeks ago, and the experience was heartbreaking. I am trying to get some resources together to make them gratitude journals, and also to explore in-house activities with them. If you guys have any other ideas, or would like to get involved, please let me know.
I am not one to ask for gifts, but for this year, I do humbly ask that if you would buy me a drink to celebrate, that you donate the money here instead.
