Go Red For Women is an initiative started by the American Heart Association in 2004, and adopted by Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) in 2005. Heart Disease and stroke (cardiovascular disease) is the Number 1 killer of women worldwide, yet many women remain unaware of this fact.

In Singapore, heart disease and stroke affects 1 in 3 Singaporean women. Heart disease and stroke accounts for 32.5% of deaths in women and 32.9% in men, with more women (10.1%) dying from stroke than men (6.9%).

Yet awareness of this issue remains low. Thus, the Go Red For Women initiative is designed to raise awareness and empower women to take charge of their heart health.

What is The Goal of Go Red for Women?

Go Red For Women increases awareness of the issue of heart disease and stroke in women. We also want to encourage women to be proactive in taking care of their hearts. The campaign also challenges women to know their risk for heart disease and stroke, and take action to reduce their personal risk, giving them the tools needed to lead a heart-healthy life!

How Your Donation helps

Even though heart disease and stroke is the Number 1 killer of women in Singapore, only 9% of Singaporean women are aware of this alarming fact. Behind these facts is a terrible tragedy. Each death tells a story, one of a life cut short. It is a story of children without a mother, a husband without his wife and parents without their child.

Through your donation, SHF will be able to organise health screenings and programmes for women at risk of heart disease. All donations will qualify for a 2.5 times tax deduction.
