About Us

Established in 1964, Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is a community-based voluntary health organisation dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy.

The Society is a self-funded voluntary health organisation that is dependent on public donations to fund and provide quality services and programmes. It is endorsed by the Ministry of Health and is a member of the National Council of Social Service with an IPC (Institute of Public Character) status as a charity since 1995.

1 in 4 persons dies of cancer

Cancer brings pain and suffering to the patient and emotional and financial stress to the family as cancer treatments are expensive and the battle can be a prolonged one.

For needy cancer patients, SCS provides subsidies for cancer treatment, financial aid and medical supplements. For patients facing life-limiting conditions, we offer palliative home care services to the patient and emotional and psychosocial support to the caregivers and family members.

For recovering cancer patients and survivors, we run support groups which are platforms for members to receive psychosocial and emotional support from each other as peer support is an integral part of the holistic recovery process.

For the general public, SCS provides free cancer screening, namely, faecal occult blood test kits, Pap smears and clinical breast examination. We also organise talks on cancer and cancer-related topics and cancer awareness programmes.

The Society helps more than 1,000 needy cancer patients and reaches out to more than 50,000 individuals through its comprehensive programmes and services for cancer patients, cancer-affected families, cancer survivors and the population at large. Your donation will help fund our programmes and services which include:
