About Us

Childline Thailand Foundation (CTF) runs a nationwide 24-hour telephone helpline with an easy-to-remember number – 1387. Childline provides its services for any child under the age of 18. The foundation works with various government and NGO stakeholders to safeguard the rights of every child as outlined by the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of a Child (CRC).

“SaiDek 1387”, like most Childlines around the world, is not associated with any government agency. This makes it possible for the organization to urge the authorities to take action and to fully function as a spokesperson and representative of the child population of Thailand.

Following a call for help for any type of abuses will almost certainly require an immediate intervention. Childline will immediately instigate an evaluation of the case to identify the authenticity and to assess the seriousness and urgency of the situation, after which all units for child protection will be alerted to give immediate attention.

Staff in the call center are ready to take phone calls 24 hours a day, 365 day a year – just like any other emergency support service. Childline plans to expand its services by locating outreach offices throughout the country. The foundation aims to provide a regional focus that can appropriately allocate resources to improve on the speed and quality of assistance and referrals to children who require care and protection all over Thailand.

Awareness is a necessary part of the work of any child helpline. Child helpline awareness work aims at empowering children and community members to dial the number when in crisis, as well as building partnerships across society where each has a role to play in protecting children.
