My Story

Come join us for our 3rd MMC Corporate Volunteer Day Walkathon and take the challenge to complete a 24-hour walk (in groups and 3-hour blocks) around the city center! MMC Singapore last organized a Walkathon in 2012, with over 150 colleagues taking part in raising S$30k. Soak in the sights of Singapore whilst getting to know fellow MMC colleagues, and helping us to set a new benchmark of $35k in funds raised for the Singapore Cancer Society! How can you participate? • Form your own cross Op-Co group, or sign up as an individual (we will find a group for you) and walk a 3-hour time block of the 24 hour journey. Walkathon participants will receive an MMC-sponsored shirt to keep! • Dare your colleagues and make monetary pledges for completed challenges • Donate funds to help our cause • Set up your own stall, selling items of your choosing in the bazaar How does the pledge work? Make a monetary pledge and dare your colleagues to a challenge, either during the walk or in the office! For example, if Bruno Marsh completes his 3-hour walk in a skirt, Guy Harper will pledge $100. Or, if Olivia W wears a Guinness Stout hat in the office for the entire day, Mary Mercer will pledge $200. Do note that pledges are individual out-of-pocket donations, not MMC-sponsored funds. Don't be shy! The pledges are for a good cause! The Singapore Cancer Society is a community-based voluntary welfare organization dedicated to minimizing the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy. The Society provides cancer treatment subsidies, hospice home care, rehabilitative support, cancer screening, public education, and cancer research. It runs the “Help the Children and Youth Programme” which helps children and youths whose lives have been affected by cancer, by providing free tuition services, school allowance grants, and other incentives to assist in leading a normal life.
